Abstract: A method and apparatus of supporting a fee-based broadcasting service in a Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) is provided. A control method of a DCAS, the method including: receiving a Conditional Access (CA) image file from a Conditional Access System (CAS) server and receiving Integrated Personalization Server (IPS) access information from an IPS; providing an Authentication Proxy (AP) with information about the received CA image file; controlling the AP to provide a terminal with access information to the IPS and image installation information when the terminal joins a fee-based service based on verifying device information of the terminal; and controlling the IPS to enable the terminal to receive a CA image code of the terminal based on the access information and the image installation information.

Abstract: Disclosed is a mutual authentication method and apparatus in a CAS including a headend system and DCAS host. In particular, example embodiments relate to a mutual authentication method and apparatus in DCAS, wherein the mutual authentication is performed between an authentication server of the headend system and an SM of a DCAS host, and then CAS software is downloaded to the SM. According to the example embodiments, there is provided a mutual authentication protocol between the authentication server of the headend and the SM of the DCAS host in a cable network, and also provided a mutual authentication method and apparatus in the DCAS where a substantial authentication based on a hardware, such as a smart card or a cable card, is not needed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for management and transmission of a classified conditional access application to provide Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) service according to disclosed embodiments is an effective managing method according to a type of a conditional access module in a software version in the DCAS. In particular, it relates to a method and apparatus which can continuously provide Pay per View (PPV) service during movement in a DCAS service operator (SO) network, such as maintaining independence of CAS SO in DCAS, provide adaptability to adapt to a variety of policies of the SO, and install an optimum application in a terminal.

Abstract: A method of operating a headend system for a downloadable conditional access service, the method including: receiving, by an Authentication Proxy (AP) server, basic authentication information from a Downloadable Conditional Access System (DCAS) host, the basic authentication information being required to authenticate the DCAS host; transmitting, by the AP server, the basic authentication information to an external trusted authority device which authenticates the DCAS host; generating, by the AP server, a session key for encrypting/decrypting a secure micro client using a session key sharing factor; obtaining, by the AP server, download-related information of the secure micro client from a DCAS Provisioning Server (DPS); and commanding, by the AP server, an Integrated Personalization System (IPS) server to download the secure micro client to the DCAS host based on the download-related information, the secure micro client being encrypted by the session key.

Abstract: Provided is a method for processing updated data of an application in a headend or a subscriber's terminal of a digital data broadcasting system. The method of the present research forms updated object modules and non-updated object modules among the objects of the application data, transmits them to a subscriber's terminal, abstracts the updated objects in the subscriber's terminal among the objects transmitted from the headend, and outputs them onto a screen, when the objects of the application data are updated in the headend.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus for receiving cable broadcasting programs and a multiplexer and a de-multiplexer thereof for reducing data amount processed in a Cable CARD and for correcting synchronization of descrambled data stream. The apparatus includes: a multiplexing unit for filtering a broadcasting stream to select only programs selected by a viewer and multiplexing the selected programs; a conditional-access processing unit for receiving the multiplexed streams and processing the multiplexed streams for conditional access (descrambling); and a de-multiplexing unit for de-multiplexing the multi stream from the conditional-access processing unit and correcting a program clock reference (PCR).

Abstract: Provided is a method for providing a service based on a subscriber level. The method includes the steps of: a) initializing a Data Back-off Start (DBS) value and a Data Back-off End (DBE) value; b) acquiring subscriber information from an external management system; c) acquiring service flow identifier (SFID) and service identifier (SID) information from an object model for quality of service (QoS) based on information on Service Class Name (SCN) of the subscriber acquired in the step b); d) creating manufacturing automation protocol (MAP) according to a priority by grasping the SID information based on the service level and controlling the DBS value and the DBE value of a cable modem (CM); and e) transmitting the created MAP to the cable modem.

Abstract: Provided is a method for securing cable modem (CM) following a Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) against physical security attacks. The method includes the steps of: a) classifying information to be stored in the DOCSIS CM based on a requirement degree of confidentiality and anti-alteration; b) storing the information in a non-volatile memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is absolute confidential information, but processing a mechanism for deleting the information stored in the non-volatile memory in case that attacks by a hacker is sensed; c) storing the information in the non-volatile memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is middle-level security information; and d) storing the information in a write-once (WO) memory of the DOCSIS CM when the information is absolute anti-alteration information.

Abstract: Provided are a data server for interactive data broadcasting service and an interactive data broadcasting service providing method using the same. The present invention provides a data broadcasting service where users can participate in real-time by processing messages inputted through a return channel according to each content. The data server includes: a contents registering unit for registering a content of data broadcasting service in a file system; a storage for managing and storing signaling information of the registered content; and a data processing unit for defining an application message for the content supporting an interactive service, identifying the kind of the content by receiving the message inputted through a return channel, updating the content by analyzing the inputted message based on structural information of the message to perform interactive data broadcasting service in real-time.

Abstract: The present invention relates to screening of the expression profile of fat specific genes according to the growing stages in swine and a functional cDNA chip using the same and provides expression files of the fat specific genes specifically expressed according to the growing stages in the muscle and fat tissues of swine. Also, the present invention provides a functional cDNA chip for meat quality evaluation and screening of specific genes in swine prepared by integrating only the fat specific genes screened as described above. Therefore, the functional cDNA chip can be used to evaluate of meat quality according to breeds of swine and to bring a high meat quality swine.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a cDNA chip for screening and function analysis of swine genes and provides a cDNA chip comprising a probe to detect marker genes specifically expressed in the muscle and fat tissues of swine, in which the probe is capable of complementarily bind to the marker genes. Also, the present invention provides expression profiles of marker genes which are related to economic traits of swine by using the cDNA chip according to the present invention. Therefore, the cDNA chip according to the present invention can be used for the comparison of genetic expression according to swine breeds and tissues, genetic mutation screening, genetic polymorphism interpretation, development of new drugs for disease treatment and disease diagnosis, swine improvement.

A method for updating a key in a conditional access system of a digital cable television service includes the step of receiving a request of changing service from a point of deployment (POD) module of subscriber having bidirectional or simplex receiver, changing a service at the head/end and sending an entitlement management message (EMM) having a changed key from the head/end to the point of deployment (POD) module.

Abstract: A package service management system and method in digital cable broadcasting comprises: a host having middleware for receiving broadcast signals of a headend and bidirectional service information, and executing a package application program for providing a package service; a POD for analyzing data, and decoding a package subscription and termination message using an encoded key so as to allow or disallow watching channels; and a headend for defining package-setting information, transmitting it to the host or the POD, generating entitlement test messages on a paid channel, transmitting them to the POD, and transmitting the subscriber's encoded key according to a request by the POD. Therefore, the subscriber can watch TV and remotely subscribe or terminate a paid package service, thereby increasing user's convenience.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system for statistically processing messages which comprises: a message compiler for compiling upstream and downstream messages of a network controller; a database for storing data; a message storage unit for storing the messages in the database when an amount of the messages compiled in the message compiler reaches a predetermined level; a statistical function handler for performing statistical processes on the messages stored in the database according to functions designated by a user; and a statistical result value storage unit for converting the results from the processes performed by the statistical function handler into a file of a predetermined format, then storing the file as a target table in the database.
