  • Patent number: 7782799
Abstract: A Join message load control system in a network using a Protocol Independent Multicast-Source Specific Multicast (PIM-SSM) protocol, the Join message load control system including a source access hop router creating a SOURCE-INACTIVE message and transmitting the created SOURCE-INACTIVE message when a multicast traffic is not received from the multicast server during a set Keep-Alive Time (KAT), and the SOURCE-INACTIVE message including information on an update set time of a PIM Join message; and a group access hop router resetting the update set time of the PIM Join message when the SOURCE-INACTIVE message is received from the source access hop router. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the periodical transmission of unnecessary Join(S, G) messages and thereby reduce traffic load in a network by adjusting a JP timer of the Join(S, G) message depending on whether a channel(S, G) is active or inactive.

  • Patent number: 7532582
Abstract: A method for selecting a route in a routing protocol includes the steps of: measuring a message reachable time between a plurality of route information managers which manage route information on a network; constructing a reachable time table for managing the message reachable time; checking hop counts of different neighboring route information managers by a receiving route information manager which receives the same route information from the different neighboring route information managers; and selecting an optimum route based on the reachable time table when the neighboring route information managers have the same hop count. Thus, it is possible to reflect network status that varies constantly in selecting an optimum route in a routing protocol, thus maximizing optimum route effects and increasing transmission efficiency of a network.

  • Patent number: 7330486
Abstract: A method for setting a host address in an Internet protocol based communication system, includes the steps of allowing a router to create a shorter label than a network prefix, the label being representative of the network prefix; allowing the router to incorporate the label instead of the network prefix in an RA (Router Advertisement) message and transmit the RA message to a host; allowing the host receiving the RA message to read the label and determine whether the read label matches a label in a prefix information table of the host; and, if the read label matches a label in the prefix information table, allowing the host to select and activate an interface ID (identifier) corresponding to the label of the prefix information table and acquire a global IPv6 (Internet Protocol, version 6) address corresponding to the activated interface ID as the host address.

  • Patent number: 7292539
Abstract: A routing table management method using an interface ID in the IPv6 that supports RIPng (Routing Information Protocol for next generation), prevents congestion in routing table management because multiple addresses are designated to a single interface, through managing a routing table using a different interface ID for each IPv6 router interface. According to the routing table management method, a first router designates a predetermined value to a first field of a route entry, designates an interface ID to a second field, thereby generating routing information, and a routing information packet including the routing information is transmitted to a second router. Then, the second router extracts a first field value of the received routing information packet from the first router and if the extracted field value is a predetermined value, a second field value is extracted therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20050180438
Abstract: A method and apparatus and a program storage device, readable by a machine, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine performs a method including: receiving an update message at a router, the update message including a timer value from at least one other router according to a routing protocol; extracting the timer value from the update message received from the at least one other router; and resetting the timer value in response to a difference between the extracted timer value of the at least one other router and the set timer value.

  • Publication number: 20050169281
Abstract: A distributed router includes: a number of ports adapted to be connected to peers via a network, to receive messages containing packets and entry information from the peers, and to output the packets for transmission to destinations; a switching fabric adapted to switch the packets received through the respective ports to output the packets to corresponding output ports; and at least one line card adapted to extract the entry information of the peers from the messages received via the input ports, to process the entry information according to a preset routing protocol to determine a best route, and to output the packets received from the peers through the corresponding output ports according to the best route.
