  • Publication number: 20170362527
Abstract: The invention relates to a grease composition having a base oil and a thickener that includes hydrophilic metal oxide particles and one or more amines that contain one or more unsaturated C—C bonds and/or at least one OH group. The hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a BET specific surface area of at least 10 m2/g and at least 80% of the hydrophilic metal oxide particles have a particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 900 ?m. The amount of the thickener is in the range of from 0.1-40% by weight, based on the total weight of the grease composition. The invention further relates to methods for manufacturing the grease composition, and the use of the grease composition for lubricating bearings, gears and couplings.

  • Patent number: 7682081
Abstract: A sliding bearing comprises two opposite bearing surfaces (3, 4) which enclose a gap (6) containing a lubricant film (5), the bearing surfaces (3, 4) being moveable with respect to each other in a generally parallel fashion, at least one of the surfaces (4) being provided with at least one cavity (10), the cavity having a depth (h3) which is at least equal to the lubricant film thickness. One of the length (Bp) and width (Lp) dimension of the surface area of the cavity (10) amounts to at least 100 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20070140608
Abstract: A sliding bearing comprises two opposite bearing surfaces (3, 4) which enclose a gap (6) containing a lubricant film (5), said bearing surfaces (3, 4) being moveable with respect to each other in a generally parallel fashion, at least one of said surfaces (4) being provided with at least one cavity (10), said cavity having a depth (h3) which is at least equal to the lubricant film thickness. One of the length (Bp) and width (Lp) dimension of the surface area of said cavity (10) amounts to at least 100 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20030176152
Abstract: A method for finishing the surface of a rolling contact component, such as a bearing roller element, a bearing ring or a traction drive rolling element, comprises the steps of: carrying out a cutting operation on the surface, subsequently calendering or burnishing the surface by means of a ball comprising a material harder than the bearing component material whereby the maximum calendering or burnishing pressure exerted on the surface is less than 7 Gpa.

  • Patent number: 6488324
Abstract: A railway vehicle wheel always improve damping characteristics when a thin visco-elastic layer is placed between the tire and the connecting disc or ring. The visco-elastic layer improves damping through shearing action and has a thickness that is lower than that of the tire by an order of magnitude.

  • Patent number: 6471410
Abstract: A rolling element bearing comprises an inner ring (3) and an outer ring (2) each provided with a raceway (4, 5), said rings having land regions (10, 11) on opposite sides of their raceways, and a series of rolling elements (6) which are in rolling contact with the raceways and which are mutually spaced by a cage (7), said cage (7) engaging the land regions (10, 11) of said ring, and at least one of said rings (2, 3) being coated. Said at least one ring is coated with a wear and friction reducing, elastic coating over its full surface.
