Patent number: 12167417Abstract: Channel state feedback is provided from a UE to a base station as a first, detailed or a second, less detailed type of channel state feedback information. Initially it is determined whether the UE has received an uplink grant from the base station or not. If the UE has received an uplink grant, a first type of channel state feedback information is transmitted to the base station on the granted resource. If, however, the UE has not received an uplink grant, a second type of channel state feedback information is transmitted to the base station. Different types of channel state feedback information enables a UE and an associated base station to use available resources more efficiently, when requesting for and delivering channel state feedback information.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2022Date of Patent: December 10, 2024Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET LM ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Eva Englund, Pål Frenger, Stefan Parkvall

Patent number: 12107690Abstract: A user equipment unit (30) and a base station node (28) which is configured for operation with a synchronous HARQ protocol and with capability of sending data on an E-DCH channel either (1) in a nominal mode in single transmission time intervals of a predetermined length, or (2) in an extended mode in a pseudo transmission time interval. The pseudo transmission time interval comprises a first transmission time interval in which the data is transmitted and a second transmission time interval in which the data is re-transmitted. The second transmission time interval is consecutive to the first transmission time interval, and the first transmission time interval and the second transmission time interval are each of the (same) predetermined length.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2017Date of Patent: October 1, 2024Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Per Johan Torsner, Eva Englund, Stefan Parkvall, Mats Fredrik Sågfors

Patent number: 11743832Abstract: Transmit power control methods and apparatus are disclosed. In several embodiments, a mobile terminal is configured to effectively ignore “UP” transmit power control commands in the event that the mobile terminal is operating in a power-limited state. In an exemplary method for controlling transmit power at a mobile terminal, a plurality of transmit power control commands are received. An accumulated power control value is adjusted in response to each transmit power control command that directs a negative adjustment in transmit power. However, the accumulated power control value is adjusted in response to a transmit power control command that directs a positive adjustment in transmit power only if the mobile terminal is not in a power-limited state. Transmit power settings for each transmission are calculated based on the accumulated power control value and the one or more radio link parameters.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2021Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET LM ERICSSON (PUBL)Inventors: Eva Englund, Erik Dahlman, Anders Furuskär, Ylva Jading, Kristina Jersenius, Stefan Parkvall

Patent number: 11412537Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, user equipment and a base station adapted to handle channel state feed-back reports in a more flexible way. More specifically, a channel state feedback procedure is provided which utilizes the resources available for transmission of channel state feedback more efficiently. This is achieved by including uplink grant availability into the channel state feedback reporting triggers used for determining when and how to send channel state feedback from a UE, i.e. a channel state feedback reporting request may be sent by a base station in an uplink grant to a UE comprising an indication of an expected amount of information to be returned.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2019Date of Patent: August 9, 2022Assignee: IDTP Holdings, Inc.Inventors: Kristina Jersenius, Eva Englund, Pal Frenger

Publication number: 20220039102Abstract: Scheduling requests are transmitted from a mobile terminal to a base station. The mobile sends a first scheduling request to the base station, the first scheduling request being associated with first data to be transmitted to the base station. The mobile receives a scheduling grant from the base station in response to the first scheduling request and transmits a buffer status report to the base station in response to receiving the scheduling grant. An HARQ acknowledgment for the buffer status report is received. Second data is received for transmission to the base station while at least some of the first data is waiting to be transmitted to the base station. A change in a buffer status of the mobile terminal is detected indicating that the second data has higher priority than the first data. The mobile transmits a second subsequent scheduling request to the base station in response to the change in buffer status.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2021Publication date: February 3, 2022Inventors: Kristina JERSENIUS, Henning WIEMANN, Anna LARMO, Peter MOBERG, Eva ENGLUND

Patent number: 10531399Abstract: Radio resources like spreading codes and transmission power are optimally allocated to various different types of radio channels supported in the cell including a specialized channel like a high-speed shared channel. One or more measurements made at the base station are provided to the radio resource manager. Such measurements include other-channel power, high speed shared channel code usage, high speed shared channel transport format usage, average active load on the high speed shared channel, empty buffer, excess power, and similar parameters that relate to a high speed shared channel. One or more of these reported measurements may then be used to access, allocate, and/or to regulate resources associated with the base station's cell.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2016Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Niclas Wiberg, Eva Englund, Sharokh Amirijoo, Gert-Jan van Lieshout, Per Beming, Stefan Parkvall, Patrik Karlsson

Patent number: 10412597Abstract: Systems and methods for selectively enabling Robust Header Compression (RoHC) for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls in a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a data radio bearer for a VoIP call is established between a base station and a mobile terminal. During the VoIP call, a radio frequency parameter for the data radio bearer is monitored. When the radio frequency parameter for the data radio bearer satisfies a predefined coverage-based condition, the base station enables RoHC for the VoIP call. In one preferred embodiment, the radio frequency parameter is a Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) for the data radio bearer for the VoIP call, and the predefined coverage-based condition is a predefined SINR threshold below which the base station enables RoHC. By enabling RoHC in this manner, RoHC resources are selectively made available for those VoIP calls that will benefit most from increased cell coverage provided by RoHC.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2018Date of Patent: September 10, 2019Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (publ)Inventors: Jayson Chan, Alexander Langereis, Eva Englund
