Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating color-based recommendations using color palette information. An indication may be received that a user is requesting a color-related recommendation, the indication associated with item information and color palette information, the color palette information corresponding to a first color palette. Based at least in part on the item information and the color palette information, one or more items corresponding to the item information and the color palette information are identified. Where there is more than one identified item, a ranking for the identified plurality of items may be generated. Item recommendations comprising at least a portion of the identified plurality of items in accordance with the generated ranking may be provided for presentation on a user device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for generating social networking recommendations. A color preference of a first user may be determined from a color palette of a first image associated with the user and/or a color palette of an item associated with the user. Other users may be identified that have a similar color preference as the first user based at least in part on the determined color preference of the first user. Interactions between the first user and one or more other users having similar color preferences with respect to the first user may be facilitated. A social networking recommendation may be generated with respect to the one or more other users having similar color preferences with respect to the first user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described to generate a color palette with color combinations based on human color preferences. One or more input colors can be used to determine affiliated colors based on the presence of colors in color palettes that have been voted on and/or ranked by a community of users. Each affiliated color can be weighted, normalized, and ordered based at least in part on the level of preference for the color palette to which it belongs and the relative popularity of the input colors. A color from the ordered affiliated colors can be selected and added to the custom palette of colors. With the addition of a color, the ordered affiliated colors can be updated to further present colors for inclusion in the custom color palette.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining whether certain color image metadata is accurate. A color image and associated color image metadata provided by a source for inclusion in an electronic catalog are accessed. A color palette corresponding to the color image is generated. A color name associated with the color palette is determined. A determination is made as to whether the image metadata comprises a color name. If the image metadata comprises a color name, a determination is made as to whether the color name included in the image metadata corresponds to the color name associated with the color palette. If the color name included in the image metadata does not correspond to the color name associated with the color palette or if the image metadata does not comprise a color name, the color name associated with the color palette is added to the color image metadata.
