Abstract: A cartridge of a vaporizing device, or at least a vaporizing liquid containing tank providing a portion of a cartridge (or otherwise provided as part of a vaporizing device) is provided with a recognizable code patch thereon. The housing of the vaporizing device or other receiver of the cartridge or other vaporizing liquid containing tank includes a sensor thereon. The sensor and code patch are brought sufficiently close (and/or aligned) together when the cartridge or other liquid containing vessel is attached to the housing of the vaporizing device to allow the sensor to “read” the code patch. This sensor is coupled to an output which can take one of various forms.
