Abstract: A magnetic engagement and fastening system for joining components, which offers true slip resistance in all degrees of freedom, particularly in a horizontal direction parallel to the general plane of the fasteners, in combination with ease and quietness of disengagement of the joined components. The system employs the principles of magnetic attraction to restrict motion in the horizontal plane. Two units, at least one with raised magnetic members and the other with at least mating magnetically attractable recesses or hollow areas are provided.
