Patent number: 11247363Abstract: Embodiments herein describe presets for saw chains comprised of one or more rivets that are coupled to a tiestrap. Each rivet may further comprise a central flange and a hub protruding from opposed sides from the flange. In some embodiments, the hub may be non-concentric from the flange, and the flange may be non-circular, such as ovoid or cam-shaped. In some embodiments, various portions of the flange, rivet, and tiestrap may be selectively hardened to various degrees of hardness, depending upon their location and usage. In some embodiments, the rivets may be prevented from rotating with respect to the tiestrap using a brazing process, and may be configured to facilitate such processes. Other embodiments may employ a non-circular hub. Still other embodiments may use a low-temperature process for soldering that does not affect the hardness of the tiestrap or rivet.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2019Date of Patent: February 15, 2022Assignee: Oregon Tool, Inc.Inventors: Christopher D. Seigneur, Michael D. Harfst, Evan Pickett, James Matthew Cunnington

Patent number: 9890821Abstract: Embodiments of clutches for electric tools, and related methods, are disclosed herein. An electric tool may include an electric motor, a drive shaft coupled between the electric motor and a cutting instrument, and a clutch coupled between the electric motor and the drive shaft. The clutch may include a motor portion having an exterior surface, a drive shaft portion having an exterior surface and forming a mated assembly when mated with the motor portion, and a spring around the motor and drive shaft portions. The spring may exert a holding force on the mated assembly, such that rotation of the motor portion in a first direction loosens the spring and reduces the friction holding force until a torque between the motor and drive shaft portions exceeds the holding force, causing rotation of the motor portion to be decoupled from rotation of the drive shaft portion.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2015Date of Patent: February 13, 2018Assignee: Blount, Inc.Inventors: Edgar A. Dallas, Evan Pickett

Publication number: 20090194728Abstract: A Wide-body Valve Having an Internalized Actuator is disclosed. The preferred valve provides exceptional conductance while also providing a compact valve and actuator package. The valve incorporates a geometry wherein the internal diameter of the valve is approximately 180% of the diameter of the valve's port. Furthermore, the stroke of the valve is preferably 30% or more of port diameter. Also, the valve actuator housing is designed to cooperate with the valve body housing such that the actuator housing is encapsulated within the valve body housing such that the valve part count and valve part volume is reduced over conventional valves.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 4, 2009Publication date: August 6, 2009Inventors: Evan Pickett, Randy Regennitter, Sean Casarotti, Thomas Deany
