    Abstract: Presented is a method for retrofitting an electric lamp having an electric switch with a dimmer unit. The method includes providing a dimmer unit configured for dimming the electric lamp. The dimmer unit includes a microcontroller, and a lamp switch connector socket in electrical communication with the microcontroller. The method further includes providing a lamp switch connector, electrically disconnecting the electric switch from the electric lamp, electrically connecting the electric switch to the lamp switch connector, and electrically connecting the lamp switch connector to the lamp switch connector socket. Consequently, the electric switch is functionally isolated from the lamp and in electrical communication microcontroller.
