Patent number: 9470029Abstract: A casement window includes a lower hinge that has an oil-impregnated roller to facilitate easy opening and closing of the window, particularly with larger, heavier casement windows. In some instances, the lower hinge includes a housing having a roller portion and a guide portion. A roller can be disposed within the roller portion and a guide can be snap fitted into the guide portion. In some cases, a removable shipping spacer fits under the lower hinge and helps to support the weight of the sash during transport and storage.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 2015Date of Patent: October 18, 2016Assignee: Pella CorporationInventors: Jaden Vos, Evan Vande Haar, Andrew P. Publication number: 20050102766Abstract: The method of the present invention includes rotating the washing basket at a tumble speed insufficient to plaster the fabrics against the basket wall. The rotational speed is increased to a first plaster speed which causes the fabrics to be plastered against the basket wall. The plaster speed is increased to a second plaster speed higher than the first. Then the rotational speed of the washing basket is returned to the first plaster speed and the washing fluid is drained from the washing basket. The spin cycle is then begun. During the spin cycle a torque or speed sensor senses increased torque or reduced rotational speed of the washing basket caused by fabrics frictionally engaging the flexible boot during rotation of the washing basket at the spin speed. If such conditions are sensed, the spin cycle is terminated.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 17, 2003Publication date: May 19, 2005Applicant: Maytag CorporationInventors: Evan Vande Haar, Timothy Miller, James Thompson, Douglas Ochsner
