Abstract: A facility for defining an analytic method is described. The facility solicits and receives user input (1) specifying one or more questions that are part of the analytic method; (2) for one of these, user input specifying a plurality of possible answers to the question; (3) for a combination of one or more of the possible answers, user input specifying a routing target for the distinguished combination; and (4) for a particular possible answer those of the combination, user input specifying an automatic retrieval method for automatically retrieving data indicating whether the distinguished possible answer is correct for a particular person. The facility persistently stores an internal representation of the analytic method encoding the received user input.

Abstract: A facility is described for performing an analytic method that specifies questions to pose, possible answers to each question, and routing targets for each possible answer to each question, each routing target being another question or a recommended action. The facility performs the analytic method for a particular patient, at a time when a spoken natural language conversation is occurring about the patient, to reach a point in the performance of the first analytic method where a first question is pending. The facility receives a representation of a portion of the spoken conversation, and automatically attributes to it a meaning predicted for it. The facility uses the predicted meaning to select one of the possible answers specified for the first question, and proceeds in the performance of the first analytic method to the routing target specified for the selected possible answer.

Abstract: A method for diagnosing errors in an analytic method definition is described. The facility accesses the definition, which specifies a set of pages, one or more of which include at least one question. Each question has two or more possible answers. One or more pages each include a swimlane control having a plurality of lanes, each lane identifying a combination of possible answers to two or more of the questions included among the pages and specifying routing in an iteration of the analytic method in which that combination of answers has been given. For each of the swimlane controls, among the included questions any of whose answers have been included in the combination of answers identified by a lane of the swimlane, the facility determines any combinations of possible answers not identified by any lane of the swimlane.

For each question, the facility present multiple possible answers to the question encoded in the internal representation, and receives user input selecting at least one of the presented possible answers to the question. The facility identifies a routing target whose association with the combination of answers selected by the user input is encoded in the internal representation, and presents information whose association with the identified routing target is encoded in the internal representation.
