    Abstract: A mesomorphic material contains at least one compound "A" ensuring a positive dielectric anisotropy of the material and a compound "B" ensuring a lowered value of optical anisotropy of the material; the content of compound A is within the range of from 4.9 to 30.0% by weight, the content of compound B is within the range of from 70 to 95.1% by weight. The material of the invention has a dielectric anisotropy of from +1 to +10 and the value of optical anisotropy--within the range of from 0.04 to 0.1.
