  • Patent number: 5201367
Abstract: A stack comprises plates (1,2,3,4) having a zig-zag profile and defining diverging-converging passages in the flow direction (L) of the first heat-exchange medium. Each plate (1,2,3,4) has in the direction (M) perpendicular to the flow direction (M) of the first medium several rows (10) of equally spaced openings (11) accommodating tubes (11a) for a flow of the second heat-exchange medium. Each plate (1,2,3,4) has an odd number of portions (12,13) whose zig-zag profile is offset with respect to the zig-zag profile of the adjoining portion by one half of the pitch (t) of the zig-zag pattern of the profile. The rotary die set for producing the plates of this stack comprises two die rolls (19,20). The length of the evolution of the shaping surface (21,22) of each roll (19,20) is divided into an even number of portions of the same length. The zig-zag profile of each portion is offset with respect to the zig-zag profiles of the adjoining portions through one half of the pitch of the zig-zag pattern of the profile.

  • Patent number: 4586563
Abstract: A tube-and-plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of plain tubes intended for a first heat carrier to pass through, which tubes are arranged in parallel rows and are received in broached holes of spaced plates. In cross section the plates are profiled so as to form, in the direction of flow of another, for example, a gaseous heat carrier, a continous symmetrically waved line, thereby forming a passage of undulatory shape for the gaseous heat carrier to flow through. Projections and depressions of each plate face corresponding projections and depressions of the other adjacent plate, thereby forming passages with alternating diverging-converging sections. The projections and the depressions of the cooled plates are made contiguous by rectilinear sections which each have an angle (.phi.) of inclination to the axis of symmetry of the cross-sectional wave line ranging from 8 to 45 deg.

  • Patent number: 4502315
Abstract: A device for corrugating a sheet material with forming staggered cut corrtions, comprising a mechanism 1 for feeding a sheet material 2 to at least two punches 3, 4. The punches 3, 4 are mounted for reciprocating motion on both sides of the material 2 in the plane perpendicular to the plane of the material 2 and over the surface of the material 2 at right angles to the direction of its feeding. The device is provided with dies 12, 13 disposed on both sides of the punches 3, 4 in the direction of feeding the material 2, with a clearance being not less than the thickness of the material 2. The dies 12, 13 are adapted to reciprocate relative to the punches 3, 4 at right angles to the plane of the material 2 such that in the process of forming the corrugations the punches 3, 4 are forced in the material 2 between the oppositely lying dies.

  • Patent number: 4428419
Abstract: A tube-and-fin heat exchanger comprising tubes (1) for the flow of a heat carrier at some temperature, said tubes being installed in broached holes (9) provided in a stack of fins (2,3). The tubes (1) are installed so that adjacent fins (2,3) form a multiplicity of ducts for the flow of another heat carrier at a different temperature. Each fins (2,3) is provided with projections (4) and depressions (5) which form in the ducts symmetrical divergent-convergent portions for setting up turbulence in the heat carrier flow layer at the wall. The fins (2 and 3) have rectilinear portions (8) located between the divergent-convergent portions and situated opposite each other on adjacent fins (2 and 3).

  • Patent number: 4420039
Abstract: A corrugated core structure for a heat exchanger in the form of a corrugated plate, walls 2 of corrugations 1 defining passages 3 for the flow of a heat-transfer agent to pass therethrough. The walls 2 are provided with pairs of extending along the length thereof projections 4 and recesses 5 successively separated by smooth wall portions 6 to effect successive throttling of the heat-transfer agent flow. Each smooth wall portion 6 is of a length essentially below five values of the hydraulic diameter of the smooth portion 6 of the passage 3. The inner curvature radius of the vertex of the corrugation 1 is essentially below a difference between one fourth of the pitch of the corrugations 1 and half the wall thickness thereof, the projections 4 and recesses 5 on the walls 2 of the corrugations 1 having a length capable to ensure an intensified heat transfer process.

  • Patent number: 4402362
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger has a corrugated heat exchange surface whose corrugations are arranged in rows displaced relative to one another through half the pitch of the corrugation. Fins of each corrugation include three portions. Extreme portions are made rectilinear and are disposed at the crest and base at an equal angle to an axis of symmetry of the corrugation. Middle portions rigidly connect the fins of the corrugations arranged in adjacent rows. The middle portion of the fins of each corrugation of the heat exchange surface includes two portions made in the form of arcs of an equal radius and arranged so that the radii of curvature are directed toward one another. A rigid connection of the fins of corrugations is accomplished at mating points of the arc-shaped portions. The plate heat exchanger may find application in engineering objects of automotive, aviation, power engineering, refrigerating, chemical and other industries.
