    Abstract: An OCT apparatus for acquiring optoretinography data, comprising: an optical system which applies an optical stimulus confined to a portion of a retina of the eye whose location is controllable; an OCT imaging system which acquires OCT data from the retina; and a controller which: acquires a duration of a physiological response of the retina in the optoretinography data to be acquired; acquires target locations on the retina and uses these to control the optical system to apply the optical stimulus to respective first portions of the retina at the respective target locations; controls the OCT imaging system to acquire, for each first portion, respective OCT data of the respective second portion of the retina over the duration indicated by the first indicator, which second portion is stimulated by the optical stimulus applied to the first portion; and generates the ORG data based on the acquired OCT data.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method of processing respective phase components of a first OCT image and a second OCT image of a sequence of OCT images of a common portion of a retina acquired by a Fourier-domain OCT imaging system after stimulation of the common portion by an optical stimulus, the common portion comprising a layer of the retina whose thickness changed during acquisition of the sequence of OCT images, to determine an indication of a position along an axial direction in the OCT images of a boundary of the layer, the method comprising: processing the phase component of the first OCT image and the phase component of the second OCT image to calculate a velocity profile indicative of a distribution, along the axial direction, of velocity within the common portion of the retina; and determining the indication based on the calculated velocity profile.

    Abstract: A computer-implemented method of processing each of a plurality of sets of OCT images in a sequence of OCT images of a portion of a retina to generate a respective indication of a tissue velocity at a position along an axial direction in the OCT images, by performing, for each set: calculating a respective comparison value based on an image quality or similarity of a first OCT image and a second OCT image in the set; using phase information in the first OCT and second OCT image in a calculation of the respective indication of tissue velocity at the position if the comparison value is equal to or greater than a threshold; and omitting the phase information from the calculation if the comparison value is smaller than the threshold.

The imaging system (10) further comprises a controller (40) arranged to calculate a two-dimensional cross-correlation using phase information of the acquired samples, and control the scanner (20), based on the calculated cross-correlation, to compensate for relative movement between the imaging target (30) and the scanner (20) during the scan.
