Abstract: There is provided an automated fire extinguishing system having a fire extinguisher for extinguishing a fire, the fire extinguisher including fire extinguishing media for extinguishing the fire, an alarm, a heat sensor for sensing heat, whereby when the heat reaches a preset temperature, the heat sensor activates the fire extinguishing system and the alarm, and at least one spray wand fluidly connected to said fire extinguisher, whereby the spray wand delivers the fire extinguishing media to an area in need of same.

Abstract: Apparatus for protecting the outwardly extending portion, for example, the distal end, of an indwelling medical treatment device, for example, a catheter, are disclosed. Such apparatus include an at least partially transparent receptacle defining a chamber sized and adapted to receive an outwardly extending portion of an indwelling medical treatment device, an inlet in the receptacle through which the outwardly extending portion is passed to be received by the chamber, and a securement member on the receptacle adapted to be secured to the human or animal patient so as to substantially prevent liquid contamination of the outwardly extending portion received in the chamber.

Abstract: Large electronic signs usually employ either incandescent lights or magnetically manipulated elements. A simple alternative includes a plurality of juxtaposed modules on a transparent diffuser plate, each module being defined by a base plate, a top plate and a conductive, liquid crystal coating layer between the plates; transparent electrical contacts in the area of overhang between the top plate and the diffuser plate, and thin wires extending through the diffuser plate for carrying current to the contacts.
