  • Publication number: 20120124775
Abstract: A hinge for coupling two parts to allow one part to be positioned at an arbitrary angle and to maintain said angle by providing a high static torque that resists rotation between the parts. The hinge includes a plurality of identical clips having a flat polygonal shape and a closed opening a receiving a cylindrical shaft. The clips are stacked to form a central opening having a polygonal shape and the shaft extends through the central opening to form an interference fit with the clips.

  • Patent number: 7416434
Abstract: A connector electrically connects corresponding conductors of at least first and second cables. The connector comprises a connecting portion into which the conductors of the first and second cables are inserted opposing one another to electrically connect corresponding conductors of each cable. A positive terminal and a negative terminal terminate and electrically connect corresponding conductors of each cable.

  • Publication number: 20050263991
Abstract: An airbag deployment rate sensor has a printed circuit board with a substrate that has guide slots for the withdrawal of deployable tapes. Each tape is fastened to the interior of the airbag. When the airbag is deployed, the tapes are withdrawn from tape cartridges mounted with respect to the substrate. The surfaces of the guide slot are coated with an electrically conductive coating. Static charges on the tapes are dissipated as they pass through the guide slots.

  • Patent number: 4456911
Abstract: A frequency modulated continuous wave altimeter and method of detecting the presence of an object in a predetermined area. The altimeter is generally comprised of an antenna for receiving and radiating microwave energy, a transmitter for generating frequency modulated microwave energy, a mixer for generating a sinusoidal resulting signal from the communication of transmitted and reflected microwave energy, and a receiver for processing the resulting signal and generating an output signal indicative of distance. The transmitter includes a Gunn diode for generating a carrier signal, modulating means for varying the frequency of the carrier signal, and a high frequency oscillator for impressing a tone on the modulating means.

  • Patent number: 4233587
Abstract: A variable resistance controller for electrical braking systems and the like wherein the form on which the resistance wire is wound has spaced apart flats into which some of the coils are drawn during winding. This arrangement provides alternate lands and depressions over which a leaf spring type contact rolls. The preferred arrangement has only two coils per land to give increased contact pressure of the leaf spring therewith and to provide predetermined incremental increases in electrical output as the leaf spring rolls from one land to the other. In the preferred embodiment, the spacing of the lands is arranged so that the electrical output is proportional to the hydraulic actuating pressure. The preferred embodiment also includes a diode connected between the output of the controller and ground through a fusible link to permit the collapsing magnetic field of the controlled braking electromagnets to draw current through the diode on deactuation of the unit to bypass the wound resistor.
