  • Patent number: 4327041
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a carburetor including a housing having a throat, means for supplying fuel to the throat intermediate its opposite ends, the fuel supplying means including a tube extending into the throat and including a plurality of fuel supply openings spaced along its length. A pivotable throttle member is positioned in the throat intermediate its opposite ends and is pivotable between a fluid flow restricting position and an open position. The pivotable throttle member includes a cam surface. The carburetor is also constructed such that an increased number of the openings supply fuel to the throat as the throttle member pivots from a fluid flow restricting position to an open position and the openings are closed as the throttle member pivots from an open position to a fluid flow restricting position.

  • Patent number: 4286553
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a combustion chamber and a crankcase which extends from the combustion chamber. A primary fuel delivery system introduces fuel from a fuel source into the combustion chamber, and a primer fuel delivery system is selectively operable for introducing fuel from the source into the combustion chamber in addition to fuel which is introduced by the primary fuel delivery system. A collector assembly communicates with the crankcase for accumulating residual fuel from the crankcase, and a residual fuel delivery system supplies fuel from the collector assembly into the combustion chamber. A control valve mechanism is connected to the primer fuel delivery system and the residual fuel delivery system for blocking the supply of fuel by the residual fuel delivery system during operation of the primer fuel delivery system.

  • Patent number: 4284040
Abstract: An engine comprises a combustion chamber and interior walls which define a fuel induction passage having a fuel outlet port communicating with the combustion chamber. A first fuel delivery system introduces fuel from a fuel source into the combustion chamber. A second fuel delivery system includes a nozzle which extends into the fuel induction passage adjacent to the fuel outlet port and is selectively operable by means of an associated valve mechanism for introducing fuel from the source directly into the combustion chamber through the nozzle in addition to the fuel which is introduced into the combustion chamber by the first fuel delivery system.

  • Patent number: 4230085
Abstract: The manual starter for an internal combustion engine includes a flexible pull element mounted in the vicinity of the engine flywheel for movement between a normally retracted position and an extended position and having teeth or cogs adapted to drivingly engage teeth provided on the outer peripheral surface of the flywheel. When the pull element is pulled to an extended position, a rocker arm cooperating with the pull element moves the pull element to a drive position wherein the cogs drivingly engage the flywheel teeth to effect starting rotation of the flywheel. When the pull element is released or the rotational speed of the flywheel exceeds the pulled speed of the pull element after the engine has started, the rocker arm permits the pull element to move from the drive position to a non-drive position wherein the cogs are drivingly disengaged from the flywheel teeth.
