  • Patent number: 4990192
Abstract: A novel method is provided for removing lint, hair, and other particulate matter from fabric articles such as clothing, upholstery, or draperies. A sprayable aerosol adhesive composition is applied to flexible sheet material, such as a paper towel, so as to splatter the surface of the sheet with tacky adherent globules of a tackified or plasticized resin without forming a continuous coating on the surface. The sprayed surface of the sheet is ready within 60 seconds for contacting with the fabric from which the particulate matter is to be removed.

  • Patent number: 4391927
Abstract: An erasable ink containing a thermoplastic block copolymer, pigment particles, and a solvent. In a preferred embodiment, an erasable ink requiring little or no pressurization is provided by employing a mixture of radial and linear block copolymers and a mixed solvent system falling within a specific range of solubility parameter. Polybutene and poly-alpha-methylstyrene are preferred additives to decrease smearing tendency.

  • Patent number: 4307541
Abstract: Tail-gate operating and locking apparatus for tail-gates utilized in refuse handling vehicles. The apparatus includes hydraulically operated means with a piston rod pivotally connected to the tail-gate and a cylinder pivotally connected to a latch mechanism for locking the tail-gate on the vehicle body. The latch mechanism comprises a bell-crank pivotally connected to the hydraulic cylinder and a locking element pivotally connected to the bell-crank and having a latching pin adapted to engage a hook secured to the tail-gate in a closed position thereof. A ramp element is rigidly attached to the vehicle body. The ramp element is provided with a cam surface to guide the latching pin during its reciprocating movement from and into engagement with the hook.

  • Patent number: 4049608
Abstract: Novel copolymerizable esters of cinnamic acid or an .omega.-alkenoic acid of from 4 to 18 carbon atoms, such as undecylenic acid, with certain hydroxyalkane sulfonic acids, such as isethionic acid, are described together with processes of making them and copolymers thereof. These novel copolymerizable esters may be made by reaction of the .omega.-alkenoic or cinnamic acid with the hydroxyalkane sulfonic acid or a sultone, such as propane sultone. These novel ester are useful as copolymerizable surfactants in the emulsion polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers; particularly for the production of self-stabilizing latices of polymeric materials possessing excellent mechanical stability and from which can be deposited films having improved adhesion, pigment wetting and bonding properties and greatly improved resistance to water.
