  • Patent number: 5853095
Abstract: A tamper evident closure for sealing a container having a threaded neck portion and an outwardly extending annular flange below the threaded neck portion including a cap assembly having an annular skirt and an annular tamper band assembly having a top edge connected to the annular skirt by a plurality of frangible bridges disposed about a first portion of the annular tamper band, at least one infrangible bridge disposed about a second portion of the annular tamper band and a vertically weakened section between the first and second portion and a series of interconnected hinged engagement tabs disposed along the first portion of the annular tamper band.

  • Patent number: 5685443
Abstract: A closure for press-on application to, and rotational removal from, a container having a cylindrical neck which includes a plurality of vertically spaced helical threads formed on the outer surface thereof. The closure includes an end panel member having a central portion formed of metal or other suitable oxygen barrier material which is adapted to overlie a mouth of the container. A generally cylindrical plastic skirt on the closure is formed by molding the same in surrounding and capturing relation to the end panel and at least a portion of the upper and lower surfaces of the end panel are generally free of plastic. The closure also includes a gasket which is engageable with the neck portion of the container to provide a seal therewith. A free edge on the outer periphery of the end panel member is encapsulated by at least one of said gasket and said molded plastic skirt.

  • Patent number: 4981230
Abstract: This relates to an improved tamper band construction for use in conjunction with closure caps for locking beneath a retaining bead on a container neck finish when the closure cap is removed to indicate rotation of the closure cap. The tamper indicating band is provided with a plurality of flaps which are initially molded in a radially inwardly, axial downwardly directed position and then are folded upwardly to radially inwardly and axially upwardly directed positions where they are engagable beneath a container retaining bead. Most particularly, the plurality of flaps are joined in groups by connecting bridges so that each group of flaps pivot as a unit with the connecting bridges stretching and providing an over center snapping action to retain the flaps in their operative positions after they are folded to such positions.

  • Patent number: 4347940
Abstract: A closure particularly intended for sealing containers having products packed therein under high vacuum wherein the vacuum retains the closure in place and a very high lifting or prying force is required to unseat the closure from the container to effect the removal thereof. The closure is provided with a supporting band which is interlocked with the shall of the closure and which supporting band has integrally formed as a part thereof a lever which is engageable with a shoulder on an associated container to effect the necessary lifting or prying action. The lever and associated supporting band are preferably injection molded of plastic material and may either be mechanically interlocked with the closure shell or molded in situ relative thereto. There are also suitable tamper indicating means.
