  • Patent number: 4643317
Abstract: A combination sports equipment storage rack and ball retriever includes a support member which is attached to a fixed surface. The support member includes a pair of wing portions to which sports equipment such as rackets may be mounted. A ball retriever is detachably mounted to the support member at a central portion between the wing portions. The ball retriever includes an elongated handle and a basket. The bottom wall of the basket is formed from spaced parallel resiliently mounted rod members for retrieving balls by pressing downwardly with the basket against the balls. When the ball retriever is attached to the support member, the basket may be used for storing other sports equipment such as cans of balls.

  • Patent number: 4580188
Abstract: The continuity of a ground strap (16) is tested by pushing down on a switch activating toggle lever (37). The toggle lever is conductive, is isolated from ground and is coupled to a signal input terminal of a test circuit module (14). Thus, when the hand of the operator touches the toggle lever to activate the test circuit module (14), the resistive path through the operator and the ground strap (16) is coupled into the test circuit as the input-terminal-to-ground resistor of a voltage divider circuit. A resulting voltage at the toggle lever causes an indication by lighting either indicator (33) or indicator (34) whether the operator is properly coupled to ground.

  • Patent number: 4562438
Abstract: A radar transmitter transmits a group of pulses as shown at I of FIG. 2, the group consisting of first short pulse of a frequency f.sub.1 transmitted during time interval t.sub.1 to t.sub.2. A second, longer pulse of frequency f.sub.2 is transmitted during time interval t.sub.2 and t.sub.3 and a third, short pulse of frequency f.sub.1 is transmitted during time interval t.sub.3 to t.sub.4. The return from a close range small target is shown at II and the return from a large source of clutter or another large target at a slightly greater range is shown at III. The return from the larger target or source of clutter is so strong as to saturate the receiver during the time interval t.sub.7 to t.sub.12 and thus the return from the second short pulse during period t.sub.9 to t.sub.10 is obscured as shown at IV. However, since a short pulse is also transmitted before the long pulse its return, at time interval t.sub.5 to t.sub.6, is not obscured.

  • Patent number: 4437229
Abstract: A hybrid integrated circuit package (11) typically includes a circuit substrate or article (12) on which are formed thin film components (17, 18, 19) of a circuit (22) and to which is bonded at least one semiconductor chip (21). Prior to bonding the chip (21) to the article (12) the circuit (22) undergoes various tests and adjustment operations. An electric element, preferably a resistance element (36), is formed on the article (12). The element (36) is functionally independent of the circuit (22) on the article (12). A first, initial value of the element (36) marks the article (12) as belonging to a first group of articles having first circuit characteristics. The initial value of the element (36) is selectively altered to a second value upon a determination that the article (12) has circuit characteristics other than those of the first group. In the described preferred embodiment the first group is a group of electrically acceptable articles (12), while other characteristics are those of defective articles.

  • Patent number: 4407777
Abstract: A blood oxygenator for one time use and discard in medical procedures. The blood oxygenator has a unitary transparent sealed vessel with first and second blood treating stages arranged for series flow. The first stage receives an inflow of blood and oxygen and it has integrated oxygenating and heat exchanging elements that include a plurality of vertical ribs and flutes internested to provide upright thin-film blood and oxygen flow channels. These ribs and flutes surround, by a common wall, a heat exchanger with upright channels for counter-directional coolant flow relative to the blood and oxygen flow. The second stage has integrated blood degassing and defoaming elements including a vertical perforated wall surrounded by a porous foam member with a surrounding reservoir of outflowing degassed and defoamed blood and a vent for free oxygen gas.

  • Patent number: 4385267
Abstract: SCR devices replace the usual diodes of the rectifier bridge section of a wound-rotor slip-recovery system motor drive. By controlling the retardation angle of the SCR devices while controlling the line bridge for acceleration from zero speed to normal speed, the rating of the overall system is reduced. By removing the gating signal of the SCR's while operating at a retardation angle in the range between zero and 90.degree., operation is immediately brought to a stop in case of an emergency.

  • Patent number: 4326156
Abstract: Two inverters in series in the DC line of a slip-recovery motor drive of the SCR controlled type are asymmetrically controlled to allow reduced current reflected back in the transformer. Two secondaries in the transformer are associated with the respective inverters. Reduced rating of the transformer, reduced saturable reactor in the DC link and improved power factor are direct advantages of such arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4033467
Abstract: A solids feeder for transporting particulated solids from a solids feed supply into the bottom of a solids upflow vessel. The feeder includes a solids feed chute terminating in a bottom outlet spaced apart from and in essentially the same horizontal plane as the bottom solids inlet of the solids upflow vessel. A pair of solids feed cylinders provided with free-floating pistons are vertically mounted on a rotatable carriage positioned below the solids upflow vessel. The carriage is rotated between two stationary positions in which the cylinders are alternately aligned with the bottom solids inlet of the solids upflow vessel and the bottom outlet of the solids feed chute. Stationary hydraulic rams are positioned below both of these stationary positions to effect displacement of the pistons within the cylinders.
