  • Patent number: 11957138
Abstract: The present invention includes a process for producing a protein product from plants and yeasts. The process comprises the steps of: a) providing a thin stillage or a thin stillage concentrate; b) separating a protein concentrate from the provided thin stillage from a) by means of solid-liquid separation; c) diluting the protein concentrate from b) with an aqueous process liquid to a dry substance content of at most 15 wt. %, tempering the diluted protein concentrate to a temperature of at least 60° C.

  • Publication number: 20230399665
Abstract: Methods combine the operations of a bioethanol production unit and a biogas unit and comprise: (a) mashing corn meal from a dry milling step with at least 0.1 t of dry matter in the form of whole stillage and at least 0.1 m3 of outflow from the biogas unit per tonne of corn meal; (b) feeding the mash from (a) to a cooking stage with mash temperatures below the gelatinization temperature of the starch in the corn meal, followed by an ethanol-forming fermentation step and then feeding the fermented mash to a distillation step; and (c) feeding the whole stillage from (b) to the mashing step in (a) and to the biogas unit.

  • Publication number: 20230320381
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for a protein product from thin stillage, the process comprising the steps of: producing a first mixture from i) thin stillage and ii) a first aqueous solution or a first organic solvent; separating a solid phase from the first mixture by means of a first solid-liquid separation; producing a second mixture from i) the solid phase and ii) a second aqueous solution or a second organic solvent, provided that the first mixture and/or the second mixture must contain an organic solvent; and separating a solid phase from the second mixture by means of a second solid-liquid separation, wherein the solid phase comprises or includes the protein product.

  • Patent number: 11781158
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for carrying out the combined operation of a bioethanol production unit and a biogas unit. The method comprises the following steps: a) mashing corn meal from a dry milling step with at least 0.1 t of dry matter in the form of whole stillage and at least 0.1 m3 of outflow from the biogas unit per tonne of corn meal, b) feeding the mash from a) to a cooking stage with mash temperatures below the gelatinization temperature of the starch inn the corn meal, followed by an ethanol-forming fermentation step and then feeding the fermented mash to a distillation step, c) feeding the whole stillage from b) to the mashing step in a) and to the biogas unit.

  • Publication number: 20230050909
Abstract: A process for producing a protein product from plants and yeasts comprises providing a thin stillage or a thin stillage concentrate; separating a protein concentrate from the thin stillage; diluting the protein concentrate to a dry substance content of at most 15 wt.%, tempering the diluted protein concentrate to at least 60° C., and adjusting the pH of the diluted and tempered protein concentrate to alkaline; cooling the processed protein concentrate and subsequently separating a liquid phase; adjusting the pH of the separated liquid phase to an acidic pH, and then separating a solid phase; and dispersing the solid phase in a solvent and subsequently separating a product phase, wherein the product phase comprises the protein product from plants and yeasts.

  • Publication number: 20220411828
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the biological in-situ methanation of CO2 and H2 in a bioreactor. The method includes feeding an organic substrate into the bioreactor wherein at least part of the organic substrate is converted to a biogas comprising methane and carbon dioxide by means of microorganisms. The organic substrate includes crude fiber and at least 0.15 kg of crude fiber per m3 bioreactor volume per day is fed into to the bioreactor. The bioreactor is operated at between about 20-45° C. H2 is fed to the CO2 into the bioreactor to produce methane.
