  • Publication number: 20070144058
Abstract: Prilled wax particles are formed from a vegetable wax-based composition. After compression, a predominantly paraffin wax-based composition is optionally poured over the vegetable wax-based composition to form an encased candle. The method of the present invention offers the possibility to incorporate a high fragrance load to the candle.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 22, 2007
    Publication date: June 28, 2007
Inventors: Qin Chen, Bob Volmert, Fabian DeStefano, Mary David, John Feguson
  • Patent number: 6923639
Abstract: A flame-retardant wick holder for a candle is made of a material having a UL-94 vertical burn test rating of at least V-0, including polymers and ceramics. The wick holder supports a wick at the bottom of a candle. The wick holder material causes the flame on the wick to extinguish when it reaches the holder, thereby preventing flashover of the residual candle fuel at the end of the candle useful life. One version of the holder has a cylindrical sleeve fit over a wick clip holding the lower end of the wick. The cylindrical holder is well adapted for use in pillar-type candles.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 2003
Date of Patent: August 2, 2005
Assignee: Bath & Body Works, Inc.
Inventors: Bradley D. Pesu, Joseph P. Romano, Fabian Destefano, Cheriyan B. Thomas

The wick holder supports a wick at the bottom of a candle. The wick holder material causes the flame on the wick to extinguish when it reaches the holder, thereby preventing flashover of the residual candle fuel at the end of the candle useful life. One version of the holder includes a barrier extending upwardly around the holder for catching a drooping wick from causing secondary wicking and possible flashover near the end of the candle useful life.

  • Publication number: 20010029696
Abstract: A decorative product has at least one, but preferably many solid icons made of ester-terminated polyamide (ETPA) and low-polarity liquid such as mineral oil. A clear medium such as clear ETPA-based polymer, is around the icon. The medium may be in a clear jar and a wick may extend through the medium to form a candle.
