  • Publication number: 20220390590
Abstract: There is described a terahertz (THz) imaging device and method for imaging an object hidden underneath clothing. The THz imaging device is generally configured for illuminating a region of clothing with a THz illumination beam, collecting a return optical beam reflected from the region of clothing in response to the illumination, generating a THz image based on the collected return optical beam, and tracking a position and orientation of the THz imaging device as the THz image is generated. A plurality of complementary THz images are generated by repeating the steps of illuminating, collecting, generating and tracking for a plurality of points of view of the THz imaging device relative to the clothing. By registering these THz images to one another in a common coordinate system based on the tracked position and orientation, the THz imaging device can output a composite THz image representing the hidden object, if any.

  • Patent number: 9965870
Abstract: Calibration methods use a calibration target for obtaining the intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters of one or more cameras are. The methods can include acquiring, with each camera, a sequence of target images representing the calibration target in different target poses and at different acquisition times. The methods can include identifying reference images from the target images, and defining volume bins, angle bins and multi-camera bins into which the reference images are stored. The reference images can be used to determine the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of the one or more cameras. In some implementations, the calibration methods can enable a user to monitor the progress of the calibration process, for example by providing an interactive calibration target including an input/output user interface to guide the user in real-time during the acquisition of the target images and/or sensors to provide positional information about the target poses.

  • Patent number: 8014577
Abstract: There is described a system and a method for analyzing spots in a micro-array, the spots containing targeted specimen, the method comprising the steps of: providing a slide with a micro-array of the spots thereon; illuminating at least one of the spots; directing the light onto the at least one spot; collecting light emitted from the at least one spot; forming an image of the at least one spot using the collected light; and analyzing the image to distinguish at least one unit of the targeted specimen located within the at least one spot from any undesired material. The analysis results are aimed at the detection, classification and quantification of optically resolvable specimen such as micro-organisms or cells.

  • Publication number: 20080068463
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for graphically enhancing the visibility of an object/person on a video image used in broadcasting a sport event. For broadcasting the sport event, one or a plurality of video camera acquire video images of the event. The object/person of which the trajectory is of relative importance in the sport game is generally in the field of view of the video camera but may or may not be visible on the images. When the object/person travels, a monitoring module passively tracks the object/person and measures the 3D position of the object/person. As the event is being broadcast, a graphical representation of the object or of its trajectory is depicted on the image to enhance the visibility of the object/person on the broadcast image.
