  • Patent number: 9795528
Abstract: A bariatric chair for use in easing the ingress and egress of bariatric patients from medical furniture includes a platform mounted within a cavity defined by the chair base. The platform includes a pair of pistons and a pair of legs each pivotably attached to a rectangular base that is stored in a retracted position within the base when not in use but drops down when engaged to lift the chair vertically. Due to the pistons extending beyond the legs, the pivotable nature of the attachment creates a rotation of approximately fifteen degrees (15°) in the chair base, assisting the bariatric patient when trying to exit the chair. A method of lifting the chair is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7722119
Abstract: A chair having a tiltable seat for convenience and safety for elderly, infirm or injured users. The seat is mounted on an axle to allow the seat front edge to tilt downwardly for ingress and egress purposes and for sitting, the seat will tilt downwardly at the seat rear edge. Cantilevered ends on the chair arms assist in gripping and a footrest is attached to the legs of the chair for user convenience.

  • Patent number: 7685655
Abstract: Convertible furniture in the form of a sleeper sofa is demonstrated without the complex mechanical mechanisms conventionally used. The seat is attached to a slide received within a slide support. A seat extension is affixed to the slide support and as the slide is moved forwardly during the method of conversion, for example to convert from sofa mode into the bed mode, the back pivots to lay on the slide support in horizontal alignment with the seat and seat extension thereby forming an extra wide bed. The seat, back and seat extension create a wide sleeping area, wider than that as would be formed by only the seat and back. A latch mechanism positioned behind the front panel secures the slide and slide support in the sofa mode until manually released.

  • Patent number: 7547072
Abstract: A light weight, durable recliner mechanism is provided for various chairs, sofas and other furniture for the manual extension and retraction of a leg support. The mechanism includes an axle operated by an extended handle. A pair of arms having V-shaped pivotable sections extend the leg support forwardly of the chair as desired. The sides of the chair act as guide supports and each define a slot for receiving a moveable slot guide which is part of the recliner mechanism. At the terminal end of each slot and communicating therewith is a locking channel to prevent the recliner mechanism from inadvertently retracting if contacted such as by being bumped or kicked. The recliner mechanism will support heavy loads without damage due in part to it remaining grounded during use.
