  • Patent number: 8239628
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for secure document processing. A removable storage, such as a flash drive, magnetic storage, IC card, is installed in document processing device. A selected document processing operation, such as copying, scanning, and the like, is then performed. Data files resultant from the selected document processing operations are directed to the removable storage for being stored temporary, instead of being sent to the storage inherent to the document processing device. Data files temporary stored in the removable storage are then deleted.

  • Publication number: 20100306640
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating formatted device reports from stored hierarchical device data. Electronic template data including a text data portion and a plurality of placeholder tags is received, wherein each placeholder tag includes data corresponding to a path in an associated, hierarchical data source corresponding to device characteristics of an associated multifunction peripheral device. Updated device data for the associated multifunction peripheral device is received into the hierarchical data source. Device data corresponding to each placeholder tag is retrieved and merged data into positions of the electronic template data in accordance with each corresponding placeholder tag so as to generate a formatted device report therefrom. A formatted device report is communicated to an associated administrator of the multifunction peripheral device.

  • Patent number: 7584482
Abstract: A system and method for authenticating document processing transactions wherein the transaction is rejected if the user is not within a selected geographical region. A transaction request is first received representing a request for the completion of a selected transaction associated with a selected user. Preauthorized geographic region data, associated with the selected user, is then received indicating from where the associated user is allowed to request transactions. Location data representing the source of the transaction request is then received and tested against the preauthorized geographic region data. The result of this testing determines whether the requested transaction is authorized.

  • Publication number: 20090070427
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for device-directed processing of remote desktop documents. A controller functionally integrated with a document processing device is first connected with remote workstations via a computer network. An electronic document is received from one of the workstations having an associated document identifier. Identification data is then received from an associated user via a user interface associated with the controller. A received electronic document is associated with the received identification data according to the associated identifier. A workstation is then identified based upon such association. Active document data is then received representing active electronic documents on each of the workstations. Indicia is generated on a display associated with the user interface corresponding to the received active document data. Selection data is received corresponding to a selected electronic document.

  • Publication number: 20080306902
Abstract: A system and method to track and display the status of an electronic document submitted through a web-portal to a multifunctional peripheral device. The multifunctional peripheral device receives an electronic document file upon which it is to perform a service and logs the receipt in a central status database. During the processing of the electronic document file, the multifunctional peripheral device continually updates the status information corresponding to that file in the central status database. Through a web-portal, a user selects from a list of recently submitted document files one file for which status information is desired. The multifunctional peripheral device then accesses the central status database, retrieves the file, and displays, via the web-portal, detailed document and status information corresponding to the selected document file.

  • Publication number: 20070291299
Abstract: The subject application is directed to a system and method for generating location based content via a document processing device. Location data representing the location of the document processing device is first stored in an associated storage, along with data representing services associated with the document processing device. A user is first prompted, via an associated user-interface, to select a desired service, which is associated with a specific network service provider. The network address of each service provider is stored in the data storage in correlation with the service to which the provider is associated. The user then selects a desired service, whereupon the device generates a query including the device location data and submits the query to the service provider corresponding to the selected service. The device then receives a response from the service provider and outputs the response to the user.
