  • Publication number: 20260131052
Abstract: The present disclosure provides implantable engineered tissue constructs having hepatocytes and stromal cells for the treatment of hyperammonemia.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 25, 2022
    Publication date: May 14, 2026
Inventors: Arnav CHHABRA, Amanda CHEN, Joseph E. MARTURANO, Keval N. VYAS, Thomas Jay LOWERY, JR., Fabiola MUNARIN
  • Publication number: 20240409897
Abstract: The invention features a method of producing aggregates of a plurality of cell populations (e.g., a first population of cells and a second population of cells). The method includes agitating a liquid medium that contains the cells in a bioreactor. These aggregates may be used for subsequent downstream applications, such as encapsulation in a biocompatible scaffold to form an engineered tissue construct.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 25, 2022
    Publication date: December 12, 2024
Inventors: Christopher Garrison WILSON, Marcus LEHMANN, Julie MORSE, Bridget ZHOU, Amanda CHEN, Peter MOUA, Fabiola MUNARIN, Joseph E. MARTURANO
  • Publication number: 20240374515
Abstract: The invention provides a highly versatile system to promote vascularization in ischemic tissue. The system is composed of a fully defined, customizable hydrogel loaded with a potent cocktail of proangiogenic growth factors. The hydrogel's mechanical, degradation, and factor release behavior can be tailored to the specifications of any given target tissue or ischemic disease state. The growth factor cocktail can be optimized for maximal vessel density or size to meet the perfusion specifications required by the tissue. The embodiments of the disclosure concern methods and compositions of the system, with examples of preparation for both injectable and implantable delivery modes.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 25, 2024
    Publication date: November 14, 2024
Inventors: Kareen L. K. Coulombe, Stephanie Roser, Fabiola MUNARIN, Alicia Minor

  • Publication number: 20240277900
Abstract: The present disclosure provides engineered tissue constructs having hepatocytes and stromal cells and methods of making and using the same (e.g., for treating acute liver failure, a urea cycle disorder, or hyperbilirubinemia (e.g., in a subject having Crigler-Najjar syndrome) in a human subject in need thereof). The engineered tissue constructs may provide a microenvironment that promotes the persistence of hepatocyte survival for at least three months.
