  • Publication number: 20200338944
Abstract: A head-up display for a vehicle may include a mirror system. The mirror system may include a mirror. The mirror may be rotatable about a first axis. For rotation about the first axis, the mirror system may include a first joint assembly spaced from a second joint assembly. The first joint assembly may include a bearing-ball joint aligned along a second axis. Additionally, the first joint assembly may include a mirror-ball joint aligned along the first axis. The mirror-ball joint may restrict movement of the bearing-ball joint to ensure that the first axis remains coaxial with the second axis.

  • Publication number: 20190219823
Abstract: A head-up display system for a vehicle including a picture generating unit for projecting information. A mirror is rotatably connected to a housing for reflecting the information from the picture generating unit toward a combiner panel. A first mirror leg extends from the mirror along a first axis and a second mirror leg extends from the mirror opposite the first mirror leg along a second axis. A first ball joint assembly pivotably connects the first mirror leg to the housing and a second ball joint assembly pivotably connects the second mirror leg to the housing, each for preventing misalignment of the mirror. At least one of the first and second mirror legs are translatable along the first or second axis relative to the housing. A first bearing is rotatably connects the first leg to the housing and a second bearing rotatably connects the second leg to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20190187466
Abstract: A system and method for canceling vibrations in a head-up display device displaying a projected image superimposed over a field of view of a driver of a vehicle includes a mounting plate fixed to the vehicle and supporting a combiner panel while allowing the combiner panel to be rotated about a rotation axis. An image source generates a signal corresponding to the projected image, which is then projected upon the combiner panel by a picture generating unit. A rotation sensor measures rotation of the combiner panel and causes a displacement compensation controller to shift the projected image to offset displacement caused by vibration which would otherwise cause the projected image to appear to move. In this way, unwanted movement of the projected image caused by vibration is effectively cancelled-out. Alternative arrangements of components of the system are disclosed.
