Abstract: Provided herein are compositions comprising an alkaloid compound of formula (I) having the structure: (I) wherein R1 is H or CH3, and R2 is H or PO3H2; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of crocin. Such compositions may be useful in treatment of anxiety disorder. Further provided herein are methods for treatment of anxiety disorder comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an alkaloid compound having the structure: (I) wherein R1 is H or CH3, and R2 is H or PO3H2; or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of crocin. Optionally, the amounts are synergistic and together provide an enhanced therapeutic effect.
