  • Patent number: 4970016
Abstract: Thixotropic aqueous liquid automatic dishwashing detergent composition with improved anti-filming properties and method of using the detergent composition. The detergent composition comprises alumina or titanium dioxide anti-filming agent, inorganic builder salts, chlorine bleach, bleach-stable detergent and a thixotropic thickener. The compositions provide reduced filming on dishware, glassware, china and the like, particularly in hard water, and remain stable against phase separation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 13, 1989
Date of Patent: November 13, 1990
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Co.
Inventors: Fahim U. Ahmed, Charles E. Buck
  • Patent number: 4968446
Abstract: Thixotropic aqueous liquid automatic dishwashing detergent composition with improved anti-filming and anti-spotting properties and method of using the detergent composition. The detergent composition comprises alumina or titanium dioxide anti-filming agent, polyacrylate polymer anti-spotting agent, inorganic builder salts, chlorine bleach, bleach-stable detergent and a thixotropic thickener. The compositions provide reduced filming and spotting on dishware, glassware, china and the like, particularly in hard water, and remain stable against phase separation.

  • Patent number: 4950440
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of water soluble higher fatty acid monoglyceride monosulfate detergents is described which includes reacting a sulfating agent, such as chlorosulfuric acid, with glycerol in an aprotic organic solvent medium, such as chloroform, to trisulfate the glycerol, reacting the glycerol trisulfuric acid made with a higher fatty acid or a higher fatty acid methyl ester in such a solvent, extracting the reaction mixture with a solvent for the monoglyceride disulfuric acid, such as aqueous lower alkanol, and neutralizing the extracted monoglyceride disulfuric acid with an aqueous neutralizing agent to make the water soluble detergent salt. In a modification of the process the extraction and neutralization operations are effected simultaneously, preferably with a slurry of sodium bicarbonate, as neutralizing agent, in aqueous lower alkanol.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 1989
Date of Patent: August 21, 1990
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Company

  • Patent number: 4931203
Abstract: A free flowing, stable, water-soluble, powdered automatic dishwashing detergent with superior solubility, handling and storage characteristics is provided. The compositions comprises an inorganic polyphosphate carrier onto which is absorbed a nonionic detergent. The "loaded" carrier is mixed with powdered silicate and the other usual adjuvants such as bleach, pigment, etc. High levels of detergent are possible without adversely affecting the aforementioned advantages and superior characteristics.

  • Patent number: 4867899
Abstract: Detergent bars, intended for personal use, which are of good foaming, lather, solubility, wear, slough, hardness, mildness (to the skin) and tactile characteristics, and which are homogeneous so that users of such bars will detect no surface grittiness on washing with them, even in cold water, include in the composition thereof, water soluble higher fatty monoglyceride sulfate, water soluble higher fatty acid soap and higher fatty acid, preferably of certain types and in certain proportions. Such bars may be made by a manufacturing process, in a step of which the higher fatty acid soap and higher fatty acid are dissolved in an aqueous lower alcoholic extractant solution of the water soluble higher fatty monoglyceride sulfate.
