  • Patent number: 10754502
Abstract: A framework for implementing contextual notifications is provided. According to one set of embodiments, a computer system can receive a notification including a context identifier. The computer system can further attempt to match the context identifier to an object created or instantiated by an application running on the computer system. If the attempt to match is successful, the computer system can invoke a notification handler associated with the object or with the application, where the notification handler is configured to present, in a user interface of the computer system, the contents of the notification contextually with respect to the object.

  • Patent number: 10438064
Abstract: A picture of a person's face is present in a mixed reality system. The mixed reality system has a monitoring or updating process that attempts to detect the presence of faces in the mixed reality. When a picture of a face is detected, the system detects edges of a picture frame or physical borders of the picture. If the picture is bounded by edges or is otherwise in a suitable physical form, then a canvas object is generated. The canvas object is arranged in the mixed reality to coincide with the picture of the face. A face recognition algorithm is used to find an identity of the face. Information updates specific to the identity of the face are obtained, applied to the canvas, and the canvas is rendered in the mixed reality. A viewer of the mixed reality will observe the information updates replacing or overlaying the picture.

  • Publication number: 20190213792
Abstract: A mixed-reality technique is described herein that associates an instance of program functionality with an anchoring human body part, such as a user's palm, fingertip, forearm, etc. The technique then presents a virtual object in physical relation to the anchoring body part. The virtual object provides an interface that allows the user to conveniently interact with the program functionality. In some implementations, the technique identifies the body parts of the user by generating a skeleton of the user's body. The technique generates the skeleton, in turn, based on image information captured by one or more cameras. In some implementations, the virtual object that is presented is also associated with a particular person with whom the user has a predefined relationship. The user may interact with the particular person via the virtual object, e.g., by receiving and sending messages from/to the person.

  • Publication number: 20190068599
Abstract: Described herein are techniques for granting a privilege. A granting user is identified using facial recognition. The identity of the granting user is confirmed using voice recognition and privilege(s) to be granted by the granting user are determined. Using a device associated with the identified granting user, receipt of a code is confirmed. Optionally, confirmation that the code was audibly read by the granting user is performed using voice recognition. Once the granting user's identity has been confirmed using facial recognition and voice recognition, privilege(s) are granted to the other user(s).
