  • Publication number: 20240264181
Abstract: A system includes: one or more containers, each containing a liquid; an oven; and a sample chamber disposed in the oven, wherein a sample having an initial weight is disposed in the sample chamber, the oven is configured to heat the sample chamber to an elevated temperature, and the sample chamber is configured to hold an elevated pressure, and one or more of the liquid from the one or more containers form a treatment solution that is configured to dissolve a portion of the sample under the elevated temperature and the elevated pressure.

  • Publication number: 20240091669
Abstract: A method for using an accelerated solvent extractor to study ion reaction parameters is provided. The method includes entering a solution mixture and reaction parameters for each of a plurality of extraction cells, wherein the solution mixture includes a ratio of a first ion solution to a second ion solution. The solution mixture is reacted in each of the plurality of extraction cells at the reaction parameters for that extraction cell. Effluent and solids are collected from each of the plurality of extraction cells. The effluent and the solids are analyzed to obtain composition results. The composition results are correlated to the solution mixture for each of the plurality of extraction cells and the reaction parameters for each of the plurality of extraction cells.

  • Publication number: 20240091827
Abstract: Systems and methods for cleaning an internal bore of a tubular member with a pipeline pig include a pipeline pig having a pig body with a fore end and an aft end opposite the fore end. A cup circumscribes the pig body, where an outer diameter lip of the cup engages a surface of the internal bore of the tubular member. A scraper assembly includes a scraper arm extending radially outward from the pig body and a spring biasing the scraper arm in a radially outward direction. A load cell is positioned to measure a movement of the scraper arm in a radially inward direction. A treatment trigger is actuated by a treatment signal from the load cell to deliver a treatment system to the internal bore of the tubular member, where the treatment signal is generated by the movement of the scraper arm in the radially inward direction.

  • Publication number: 20240071740
Abstract: A method of analyzing the residual of a polymeric scale inhibitor in water containing SO42?, such as produced water, is disclosed. The water also contains a polymeric scale inhibitor that includes 2-acrylamino-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS). In the method, an amount of SO42? in a sample of the water is measured. A water soluble salt is introduced into the sample of water, and the salt removes SO42? from the water sample resulting in a low SO42? water sample. The low SO42? water sample is then analyzed, and the analysis includes: determining a sulfur level in the low SO42? water sample, and performing a thermodynamic scale prediction to calculate the amount of SO42? ions remaining in the low SO42? water sample. A concentration of the polymeric scale inhibitor in the water sample is then determined based on an inductively couple plasma (ICP) analysis.

  • Patent number: 10858596
Abstract: A method and a system for separating and recovering an entire liquid hydrocarbon sample using an accelerated solvent extractor is disclosed. In the method, a filter is inserted into a bottom portion of an extraction cell of the accelerated solvent extractor. An adsorbent is activated via heating in a furnace and then cooled. At least a portion of the adsorbent is then inserted into the extraction cell and a liquid hydrocarbon sample is introduced into the extraction cell on top of the adsorbent. The extraction cell comprising the sample is placed in a cell tray of the accelerated solvent extractor and the saturate, aromatics, and resins fractions of the sample are sequentially extracted using first, second and third solvents, respectively. The entire liquid hydrocarbon sample is extracted as a result of the method.
