  • Patent number: 7080316
Abstract: A user selects base text from a working document for which ruby text is desired. The base text is displayed in a ruby handling window. Despite the ruby handling window being open, the user can change focus to the working document, perform normal operations in the working document, such as text editing or may even change the selection of the base text. Such an amendment of the selected base text is then directly updated in the ruby handling window based on the newly selected base text.

  • Publication number: 20040044964
Abstract: A frame growth direction of an anchored frame is adapted to various combinations of page text flow directions and page line growth directions of an underlying page and of an anchored frame, thus reducing interference of a growing anchored frame with an existing layout of the underlying page, other anchored frame, or document. In one embodiment, a method for defining the anchored frame in the page having text elements includes determining a page text flow direction of the page, determining a page line growth direction of the page, locating an anchor point of the anchored frame near an intersection of the page text flow direction and the page line growth direction of the page, and defining a frame growth direction of the anchored frame to be oriented away from the anchor point to reduce interference with the text elements in the page.

  • Publication number: 20020116416
Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture consistent with the present invention provide processing of a document containing an embedded object having a first format corresponding to a first program that is unavailable on the data processing system. It is determined whether the first program is an unavailable program. When it is determined that the first program is unavailable, the embedded object is converted into a second format different from the first format that is suitable for use with a second program that is available on the data processing system.

  • Publication number: 20020055953
Abstract: Methods and systems consistent with the present invention include an improved spreadsheet program which is user-friendly, and allows the user to view all previous spreadsheet documents at one time in a tree scenario. Specifically, the user enters data into a spreadsheet of the spreadsheet program, saves each data set entered into the spreadsheet as a scenario using a name or other identifier, and then the user can view all the scenarios created at one time on screen as a tree structure. The user can then compare the different scenarios the user has created, and move between the different scenarios easily.
