Embodiments generate and store descriptive image signatures from candidate product images or selected portions of such images. A subsequently calculated visual similarity measure serves as a visual search result score for the candidate product in comparison to an input query image. Any number of images of any number of candidate products may be analyzed, such as for items available for sale in an online marketplace. Image analysis results are stored in a database and made available for subsequent automated on-demand visual comparisons to an input query image. The embodiments enable substantially real time visual based product searching of a potentially vast catalog of items.

    Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for analyzing a laying stress on a cable. The method for analyzing a laying stress on a cable includes: segmenting, according to cable grounding manners, cable laying manners and cable bending types that correspond to the discrete points of pipeline detection in a cable laying channel, the discrete points; and performing, according to segmentation information and measurement information of the discrete points, stress analysis calculation on minimum segments in which the discrete points are located. In the present application, stress analysis of each segment of the cable during the cable laying process is achieved in real time, providing data support for laying the cable. Workers responsible for laying the cable can adopt corresponding protective measures during the laying process according to a stress analysis result so that the cable can be really protected, improving the safety of the cable during the cable laying process.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a communication wide-area coverage system and method based on reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) technology. The system includes a RIS base station, a communication board, a controller, and a power supplier. The communication board communicates with a target cell to obtain a communication rate and position coordinates of a target coverage cell and feeds back the communication rate and position coordinates to the controller. The controller calculates a relative position between the target coverage cell and the RIS base station according to the obtained position information of the target coverage cell, and controls the RIS base station according to the relative position and the communication rate to generate a beam covering the target coverage cell. The RIS base station uses a RIS phased-array antenna integrated with an electronic device without requiring a radio-frequency transmitter and receiver (TR) component and a large number of phase shifting devices.

    Abstract: Atomically dispersed platinum-group metal-free catalyst and method for synthesizing the same. According to one embodiment, the catalyst is made by a method in which, in a first step, an Mn-doped ZIF-8 catalyst precursor is prepared by reacting a first solution comprising zinc nitrate hexahydrate and manganese chloride dissolved in an acid/water solution with a second solution comprising 2-methylimidazole dissolved in water. Then, in a second step, the Mn-doped ZIF-8 catalyst precursor is thermally activated, i.e., carbonized, to form an Mn—N—C catalyst. Preferably, the thermal activation is performed in a multistep fashion, first at a lower temperature of about 800° C. and then at a higher temperature of about 1100° C. After carbonization, the catalyst material may optionally be subjected to an absorption process, followed by a second thermal activation. The absorption process may involve dispersing the catalyst material in a solution of manganese chloride and urea in hydrochloric acid and isopropanol.
