  • Publication number: 20030118821
Abstract: A superabsorbent polymer comprising a delayed absorption superabsorbent polymer having a free water absorbency property of absorbing less than about 3 grams of aqueous saline per gram of superabsorbent polymer in about 6 seconds, for a full particle size distribution of superabsorbent polymer ranging from about 40 micrometers to about 890 micrometers.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 21, 2002
    Publication date: June 26, 2003

  • Patent number: 6124391
Abstract: A particulate material composition of superabsorbent polymer particles, wherein less than about 60% by weight of the superabsorbent polymer particles will pass through a U.S. Standard 50 mesh sieve. The composition has anti-caking properties and also reduced dusting. The composition can be produced by mixing the superabsorbent polymer particles with an inorganic powder, such as clay.

  • Patent number: 5686548
Abstract: Polymers which form ultrathin, chemically adherent, anisotropic films on substrate surfaces impart useful properties to the surface. The polymers can be functionalized with any of a wide array of side chains and groups to impart properties and/or uses to the substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 1995
Date of Patent: November 11, 1997
    Assignee: Research Corporation Technologies, Inc.
Inventors: David W. Grainger, Fang Sun

  • Patent number: 4789550
Abstract: Perfectly spherical, smooth and uniform microcapsules, which may contain living cells, are produced having a diameter less than 700 .mu.m, e.g. 150 to about 500 microns, by employing an electrostatic droplet generator. A droplet is suspended from a pointed source, such as a needle, and is charged with high static voltage. A collecting vessel or ring device is charged with opposing polarity and attracts the droplet When a voltage potential threshold is passed, the droplet moves from the source to the collecting vessel. The voltage pulse height, pulse frequency and length, and extrusion rate of the droplet are adjustable so that predetermined sizes of droplets may be repeatedly generated and collected.
