  • Patent number: 8547283
Abstract: A multiband antenna having a ground plane and a radiating portion is provided. The radiating portion includes a first metal portion, a second metal portion, an inductively-coupled portion, and a third metal portion. The first metal portion has a first coupling metal portion and a signal feeding line electrically connected thereto. The second metal portion has a second coupling metal portion and a shorting metal portion electrically connected thereto with a shorting point connected to the ground plane. The first and second coupling metal portions are coupled and a capacitively-coupled portion is formed therebetween. The inductively-coupled portion is connected between the third and second metal portions. The first and second metal portions enable the antenna to generate a first operating band. The first, second and third metal portions enable the antenna to generate a second operating band, the frequencies of which are lower than those of the first operating band.

  • Publication number: 20130181827
Abstract: A system, computer-readable medium, and method for updating a decisioning algorithm are provided. In the method, operational parameter data from a first device is evaluated using a decisioning algorithm to determine if an alert should be sent. The alert indicates a possible performance issue associated with a component of the first device. The operational parameter data includes a value of an operating characteristic of the first device. When a determination is made to send the alert, an alert message including a first indicator indicating the possible performance issue of the component of the first device is created. The alert message is sent to a second device. The decisioning algorithm is updated based on a second indicator received from a third device. The second indicator indicates either that the alert was useful or that the alert was not useful.

  • Patent number: 8436774
Abstract: A mobile communication device includes a ground plane and an antenna. The antenna is disposed on a dielectric substrate and includes a radiating metal portion, a coupling metal portion, and an inductive shorting metal portion. The radiating metal portion provides a resonant path for the antenna to generate first and second operating bands. The coupling metal portion is coupled to the radiating metal portion to form a first coupling portion and is connected to a source through a connecting metal strip. One end of the inductive shorting metal portion is electrically connected to the radiating metal portion, and the other end is electrically connected to the ground plane. The inductive shorting metal portion includes a first fractional section coupled to the radiating metal portion to form a second coupling portion, and a second fractional section coupled to the coupling metal portion to form a third coupling portion.

  • Patent number: 5187763
Abstract: An optical fiber cable (20) includes a core which (22) is filled with a filling material (26) comprising a composition of matter which passes industry wide drip tests, which substantially has no oil separation and which has excellent thermal oxidative stability. The filling composition includes a relatively high molecular weight aliphatic hydrocarbon which may be a polyalphaolefin, for example, or a relatively high molecular weight mineral oil. Also included in the composition of the filling material is a fumed silica, a block copolymer and a relatively high amount of an antioxidant system. Swelling of coating materials for optical fibers (25,25) which are relatively soft and which are in contact with the filling material is substantially less than that experienced with prior art filling materials. Because of the inclusion of a low pour point aliphatic hydrocarbon in the filling material, the cable provides excellent optical performance at low temperatures.
