  • Patent number: 7769733
Abstract: Systems and computer products that improve the techniques used to search multidimensional databases over techniques of the past. The preferred embodiment of the present invention advantageously improves the technique of determining a grid index that is used to locate a geometric shape in a spatial database. More particularly, the preferred embodiment of the present invention improves the technique of defining the grid cell size in a grid for a given data set, thereby improving the grid indexing process that locates a particular minimum-bounding rectangle and the associated geometric shape.

  • Patent number: 7685339
Abstract: A remote control system and a method thereof are provided. The remote control system includes a first host, an adapter, and a peripheral device. The first host converts a first serial signal into a first network packet, and then outputs the first network packet through a network. The adapter is connected to the network to receive the first network packet, and then converts the first network packet into a second serial signal complying with a universal serial bus (USB) format. The peripheral device is coupled to the adapter through the USB, and receives the second serial signal, so that the user can control the peripheral device at a remote site through the network.

  • Patent number: 6983205
Abstract: Provides methods, apparatus and system for compressing a large number of continuous location data of moving objects. A large number of continuous location data of moving objects sent from a mobile unit or a locating device are received, these location data are compressed and inserted the compressed location data into a database, so as to solve the problem that the data can not work under a high insertion frequency, and reduce the storage space of continuous locations while maintaining certain location query precision. An example apparatus for compressing the location data of moving objects, comprises: input interface for receiving current location data of a moving continuously; data compressing unit for compressing the location data received via said input interface; and output interface for outputting compressed location data of the moving object.

  • Patent number: 6969704
Abstract: The invention provides a method for reducing damage to an ischemic tissue which comprises contacting cells of the tissue with an inhibitor of Early Growth Response Factor-1 Protein (Egr-1). In addition, the invention provides a method for reducing vascular injury during reperfusion of an ischemic tissue in a subject which comprises contacting the tissue with a compound which inhibits expression of Early Growth Response Factor-1 (Egr-1) protein in the tissue so as to reduce vascular injury in the tissue during reperfusion. wherein the inhibitor is a nucleic acid consisting essentially of the polynucleotide sequence 5?-CTTGGCCGCTGCCAT-3? (SEQ ID NO:1). In one embodiment of the invention, the subject has suffered a stroke, or a myocardial infarction. In another embodiment of the invention, the subject is undergoing or has undergone angioplasty, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, or organ transplantation.

  • Patent number: 6940530
Abstract: Provides point label placement determining methods, apparatus and systems. A point label placement determining method and system are used in map browsing service based on session mode. In an example embodiment, initial label placement data in a scale is calculated by a static point label determining method. When a user requires a map browsing service, the requirement are met by using an incremental label placement method on the base of said initial label placement data. The incremental point label placement method dramatically reduces the cost for service process. Therefore, the simultaneous requirements of a large number of users can be met. The present invention is successfully used in location based service systems.
