Patent number: 9289573Abstract: A ventilation air pressure oscillation mitigation device for a ventilator includes a housing defining an inlet and an outlet. The device includes a valve seat defining a primary opening and a plurality of secondary openings. A valve body is selectively positionable in a first position and a second position within the device. In the first position, substantially all of a first flow of ventilation air from the inlet to the outlet passes through the primary opening. When the valve body is in the second position, all of a second flow of ventilation air from the inlet to the outlet passes through the plurality of secondary openings. An actuator controls a position of the valve body.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2012Date of Patent: March 22, 2016Assignee: Covidien LPInventors: Clayton R. Platt, Fang Zheng, Rick Crawford

Patent number: 9153235Abstract: One or more test features are extracted from a time domain signal. The test features are represented by discrete data. The discrete data is represented for each of the one or more test features by a corresponding one or more fitting functions, which are defined in terms of finite number of continuous basis functions and a corresponding finite number of expansion coefficients. Each fitting function is compressed through Functional Principal Component Analysis (FPCA) to generate corresponding sets of principal components. Each principal component for a given test feature is uncorrelated to each other principal component for the given test feature. A distance between a set of principal components for the given test feature and a set of principal components for one or more training features with the processing system is calculated. The test feature is classified according to the distance calculated with the processing system.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2013Date of Patent: October 6, 2015Assignee: Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.Inventors: Chenhao Zhang, Ruxin Chen, Thomas Fang Zheng

Publication number: 20150028923Abstract: An improved gate drive circuit is provided for a power device, such as a transistor. The gate driver circuit may include: a current control circuit; a first secondary current source that is used to control the switching transient during turn off of the power transistor and a second secondary current source that is used to control the switching transient during turn on of the power transistor. In operation, the current control circuit operates, during turn on of the power transistor, to source a gate drive current to a control node of the power transistor and, during turn off of the power transistor, to sink a gate drive current from the control node of the power transistor. The first and second secondary current sources adjust the gate drive current to control the voltage or current rate of change and thereby the overshoot during the switching transient.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2013Publication date: January 29, 2015Applicants: BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY, AISIN AW CO. Patent number: 8712773Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for modeling a common-language speech recognition, by a computer, under the influence of multiple dialects and concerns a technical field of speech recognition by a computer. In this method, a triphone standard common-language model is first generated based on training data of standard common language, and first and second monophone dialectal-accented common-language models are based on development data of dialectal-accented common languages of first kind and second kind, respectively. Then a temporary merged model is obtained in a manner that the first dialectal-accented common-language model is merged into the standard common-language model according to a first confusion matrix obtained by recognizing the development data of first dialectal-accented common language using the standard common-language model.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2009Date of Patent: April 29, 2014Assignees: Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Tsinghua UniversityInventors: Fang Zheng, Xi Xiao, Linquan Liu, Zhan You, Wenxiao Cao, Makoto Akabane, Ruxin Chen, Yoshikazu Takahashi

Publication number: 20100312552Abstract: A method for preventing the loss of information within a speech frame is described. A first speech frame to be encoded is selected. A determination is made as to whether or not a second speech frame is a critical speech frame based on the information within the second speech frame and one or more adjacent speech frames. At least a part of an encoded version of the second speech frame is created according to a selected forward error correction (FEC) mode if the second speech frame is a critical speech frame. The first speech frame and the at least a part of the encoded version of the second speech frame are transmitted.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2009Publication date: December 9, 2010Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Fang Zheng, Daniel J.
