Abstract: Compositions and methods are provided for treating, mitigating, managing, reducing or preventing the onset of symptoms, signs or indicators of liver disorders as well as the disorders themselves. The compositions and methods include microbial compositions that are selected to improve gut function in the subjects to which they are administered, so as to bring about treatment of liver disorders and/or the signs, symptoms and indicators of those disorders.

Abstract: Administering a composition comprising at least one mucin-regulating and at least one butyrate-producing microbe can provide a therapeutic effect for subjects having prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. Therapeutic effects can include a reduction in hemoglobin A1C levels, a reduction in glucose area under the curve after a meal tolerance test, or a reduction in the fasting glucose level.
