    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a novel endotracheal tube assembly comprising an endotracheal tube and an expander. The endotracheal tube of the present invention comprises a tunnel configured into the wall of the endotracheal tube, wherein the tunnel can be expanded to increase the circumference of the endotracheal tube. The tunnel can replaceably receive the expander of different widths, thus gradually increasing the circumference, and thus the internal diameter, of the endotracheal tube, without removing the endotracheal tube from the trachea.
