  • Patent number: 11101878
Abstract: A method for design an optimized constellation set and labeling for satellite point to multi-point transmission systems including transmitters and receivers, wherein the transmitters are adapted to create signals overlay and are configured to allow simultaneous transmission of at least two different data streams (services) intended for users with different radio link qualities. In particular, N services are provided to users having a good radio link and a subset of services is maintained and guaranteed for the users having a lower radio link quality condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 8, 2018
Date of Patent: August 24, 2021
Assignees: European Space Agency, Politecnico Di Torino
Inventors: Nader Alagha, Farbod Kayhan, Guido Montorsi

  • Patent number: 10693702
Abstract: A simple construction for a family of non-uniform APSK constellations by the radial isomorphism between squares to circles is provided. The mutual information values indicate gains of at least 0.5 dB up to 1.5 dB with respect to the state of the art, such as the DVB-S2X constellations with 256 symbols. The invention also provides for a low-complexity detector of high-order modulated signals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 23, 2017
Date of Patent: June 23, 2020
    Assignee: UNIVERSITÉ DU LUXEMBOURG
Inventors: Farbod Kayhan, Bjorn Ottersten, Bhavani Shankar Mysore Rama Rao

  • Patent number: 9692542
Abstract: A method for generating a channel code, in particular for a frame-header, wherein at least a code-word of the channel code is obtained by means of at least a concatenation of code-words of two constituent codes and such concatenation is performed on subsets of code-words of a first constituent code, having maximum length, with code-words of a second constituent code.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 24, 2013
Date of Patent: June 27, 2017
    Assignee: POLITECNICO DI TORINO
