  • Patent number: 10436727
Abstract: A tool having a pump-out unit, pumping unit, and NMR unit is disposed in a wellbore. On a pump-up cycle, after removing borehole fluids, a fluid is injected into a region of investigation. NMR measurements are made while fluid migrates into the region of investigation. On a production cycle, pressure is removed, allowing fluid to exit the formation while NMR measurements are made. A rate of fluid production is estimated using the time-dependent NMR measurements. Alternatively, the mass of a sample is measured. Fluid is injected into the sample and the mass of the injected sample is measured. Pressure is removed and the mass of the injected sample as the fluid migrates out of the sample is measured. The change in mass of the injected sample as the fluid migrates out of the sample is determined and a rate of fluid production is estimated using the determined change in mass.

  • Publication number: 20190101665
Abstract: A measurement device makes measurements on a region of investigation in which a native fluid or complex fluid (e.g., emulsified fluid) has been replaced by a fluid of different viscosity. Various methods such as core flooding, pressure cycling, centrifuging, or imbibition may be used to replace the native fluid. The replacement fluid may include alkanes, alkenes, or some combination of those, and is preferably non-polar. The replacement fluid may mix with the native fluid within the pores to produce a mixture having a different viscosity than the native fluid. Measurements can be made on a sample in a lab or on an isolated region of a subsurface formation. Standard measurement techniques such as the Amott-Harvey technique or the United States Bureau of Mines technique may be used. Alternatively, NMR measurements may be performed. A parameter such as wettability and relaxivity is estimated using data obtained by the measurement device.

  • Patent number: 9405037
Abstract: Methods are described for wettability characterization based on NMR measurements, which are sensitive to the surface wetting conditions of oil and water at the pore scale. The described methods make use of surface relaxation effects on the NMR relaxation (T2). Workflows are described to obtain wettability profiles of a porous media such as a rock either in the native state or prepared to a certain state in the laboratory. An underlying forward model is also described for the mixed wet and fractionally saturated pore spectrum. Outputs of the described inversion include continuous saturation and wettability profiles as a function of the pore sizes in the porous media, as well as an averaged value for saturation and wettability over the entire pore spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20130238609
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are disclosed for rendering query results. After a user submits a query, a plurality of query results may be received, comprising at least a first query result and a second query result. The first query result can be rendered in a first collapsed view, which may be smaller and may comprise less information than a full view of the first query result. Upon receiving a first indication of scrolling, hinting that the user may wish to view more results, the first query result can be rendered in a first expanded view, which may comprise a full view of the first query result. Further, upon receiving the first indication of scrolling, the second query result can be rendered in a second collapsed view. Rendering query results as provided herein allows a (limited) viewable area to be used in an efficient manner.

  • Publication number: 20100185644
Abstract: An embodiment of the current invention is directed to using a script embedded in a web page and executed in a web browser environment to store user search history information in a persistent, browser-supplied, script accessible, history cache and employ the user search history information to provide suggested search queries. A number of input characters of a search query are received by the script. The persistent, browser-supplied, script accessible, history cache is retrieved. A list of suggested search queries is determined from the history cache by the script. The list of suggested search queries is presented.

  • Patent number: 6539229
Abstract: A system and method for determining the geographic location of a mobile station in a mobile telephone system is disclosed. The system broadcasts a series of forward link triangulation signals from an array of base transceiver stations, so that a mobile station may determine the differential times of arrival, and thereby the mobile station's location.

  • Patent number: 5896411
Abstract: An enhanced mechanism for the reverse link power control in a wireless communication system, especially for high speed data applications and fixed wireless communication applications, dynamically adjusts the power control step size of the reverse link power control. The power control step size is dynamically adjusted based on various factors including types of service, number of reverse supplemental code channels, total received power at the base station, estimated diversity gain and required mobility, among others. The system which includes stationary infrastructure, can query a subscriber unit's capability in the support of a pre-defined set of power control step sizes before assigning it to the subscriber unit. Furthermore, the subscriber unit may decide its optimized power control step size based on certain feedbacks from the system.
