  • Patent number: 10992139
Abstract: An electrical power system includes a photovoltaic panel, configured to generate electrical power from a solar source. An output source is electrically coupled to the photovoltaic panel with a first maximum power point tracking charge controller. An inverter is electrically coupled to the photovoltaic panel with a second maximum power point tracking charge controller. A bi-directional buck/boost converter is electrically coupled to the first maximum power point charge controller and the second maximum power point charge controller and programmed with instructions to determine a photovoltaic panel current coming in from the photovoltaic panel. Then, direct an output source current to the output source. After that, direct a inverter current to the inverter.

  • Publication number: 20190222028
Abstract: A system and method to increase solar system efficiency via a novel symmetric direct current regulation (SDCR) system to maximize useable solar power and optimize storage of energy in battery pack systems. The SDCR system maximizes delivery of generated solar power to the battery storage, utility grid or local building loads. The SDCR system comprises a plurality of photovoltaic arrays whose output voltage is mapped to the operational voltage of a LiFePO4 battery storage system and a grid-tied inverter. Efficiency is increased by approximately 30% via (a) the elimination of in-line charge controllers for stepping down power from the PV array to the battery pack, and (b) the elimination of boost controllers for stepping up power to the requirements of the inverter. Thus, the SDCR system is able to support low-loss symmetric delivery of electrical power to both the battery storage pack and the inverter.

  • Publication number: 20120086214
Abstract: A wind powered energy generation apparatus, system and method. The apparatus may include a sail member having a windward surface and a leeward surface bounded by side edges and ends. The sail member may have a transverse width defined between the side edges and a longitudinal length defined between the ends. The apparatus may include a wind turbine including a bladed rotor configured to rotate about a central rotational axis. An end or a side edge of the sail member may be arranged proximate an outer periphery of the bladed rotor of the wind turbine. The longitudinal length or transverse width of the sail member may be inclined at an angle relative to a plane perpendicular to the central rotational axis. Wind flowing substantially parallel to the central rotational axis may form counter-rotating vortices about the side edges which vortices augment airflow across the bladed rotor of the wind turbine.

  • Patent number: 6173062
Abstract: Apparatus and method for shifting the frequency range of an audio frequency range signal using digital frequency shifting and single sideband amplitude modulation techniques. In one embodiment, a frequency shifted single sideband, amplitude modulated signal is formed for application to the human hearing sensory system to provide enhanced hearing for hearing impaired persons. In another embodiment, the audio signal is shifted to an ultrasonic frequency range utilizing digital signal processing techniques in which an audio frequency signal is frequency shifted by modulation to a carrier frequency and in which a single sideband modulated signal is formed. The digital single sideband amplitude modulation techniques of this embodiment are also applicable to digital modulation systems for uses other than in hearing aids. In another embodiment, analog single sideband modulation is utilized for frequency shifting in a hearing aid application.
