  • Publication number: 20130308521
Abstract: A method for allocating radio resources, a base station, and a system are provided. The method includes: acquiring statistical average user satisfaction of each access point in a relay cell, where the access point includes the base station and a relay node in the relay cell, the average user satisfaction is an average ratio of a total user rate obtained by an access point to a total user rate required by the access point, where the average ratio is in a statistical period; and when a difference between the statistical average user satisfaction of the base station and the statistical average user satisfaction of each relay node approaches a preset value, determining a resource partitioning weight of each access point; and calculating radio resources of each access point according to the resource partitioning weight of each access point, and allocating the radio resources to each access point.

  • Publication number: 20110014875
Abstract: A system and method for uplink power control in a wireless communications system are provided. A method for power control of uplink transmissions by a communications device includes computing a power offset based on a signal target and a measured received signal power strength, generating a power control command from the power offset, and transmitting the power control command to the communications device. The signal target is based on control information provided by the communications device.

  • Patent number: 6952426
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the transmission of short data bursts in CDMA/HDR networks. Dormant access terminals are assigned to a common traffic channel and rate group by an access point. The access point then informs the access terminals of the assigned common traffic channels and rate groups. The access point then transmits short data bursts to the dormant access terminals using the assigned common traffic channels and rate groups. If an access terminal fails to acknowledge receipt of a short data burst, then the access terminal is re-assigned to a new common traffic channel and rate group and transmission of the short data bursts is re-attempted. If an access terminal fails to acknowledge receipt of a short data burst more than a predetermined number of times, then the access terminal is placed in an active mode of operation.

  • Patent number: 6944175
Abstract: A method and apparatus for scheduling forward data link transmissions in CDMA/HDR networks. An access point that services a plurality of access terminals using corresponding forward communication links calculates a scheduling parameter for each of the corresponding forward communications links and access terminals as a function of a plurality of operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 6810018
Abstract: A method and apparatus for load balancing in CDMA/HDR networks. An access terminal is operably coupled to a plurality of access points. The access terminal monitors the quality of the forward communication links between the access terminal and the access points. The access terminal also monitors the capacity utilization of the access points. The access terminal then requests data to be transmitted to the access terminal from a selected access point as a function of the monitored quality of the forward communication links and the capacity utilizations.

  • Patent number: 6016429
Abstract: An algorithm or method for ascertaining minimum cellular system costs is presented based on the recognition that the proper distribution of wired network blocking probability is the prime consideration in optimizing system design for minimum cost. System costs are calculated for each of a series of VCs maximum blocking probabilities "b" wherein the total wired network blocking probability is "BP" and the channel element blocking probability for each of those calculations must not exceed "(BP-b))/(1-b)". An examination of the resulting calculations will then reveal the appropriate distribution of resources to minimize costs.

  • Patent number: 5826218
Abstract: A method for optimizing the distribution of call blocking probabilities in the design of a new cellular system to minimize the total cost of the system. In most systems, the cost of cells including real estate, RF channels antenna construction, etc. comprises the most costly portion of the system. As allowable call blocking for a cell increases, the area coverage of the cells increases and thus the total number of cells required decreases for servicing a given area. Thus, the system should be designed having the maximum number of vocoders in the BSC and the maximum number of channel elements in each base station for initial system design with the number of channel elements being optimized after the number of cells and placement thereof is finalized. The algorithm of the present invention, accomplishes the optimization by completing the design in the manner of the last sentence.
