Patent number: 6868171Abstract: The present invention provides color images of tissue characteristics for determining the existence can location of tissue anomalies. An image of tissue is received, divided into pre-determined portions and accompanied by X and Y coordinates describeing the tissue relative to a subject. Characteristic data of the tissue is received for each portion of the image and is displayed by color according to characteristic data value. Characteristic data can also be determined and displayed for each portion of the image over multiple levels. Multiple images, one for each level, can be scrolled through for a common set of X and Y coordinates of tissue. Or, a three dimensional image is created, having respective levels displayed simultaneously, with color representative of the tissue characteristics for the entire depth of the tissue investigated. Additionally, color images are developed that compare and display differences in characteristic data of tissue over time.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2001Date of Patent: March 15, 2005Assignee: Ultratouch CorporationInventor: Farid Souluer

Patent number: 6507663Abstract: A computer controlled apparatus for detecting breast tumors by mechanically palpating a breast in a full scan manner to detect small lumps or anomalies. The patient is positioned on a fully adjustable bed and oriented relative to the apparatus. A detection head mounted for movement in three dimensions is positioned above the bed. A palpation finger is brought into pressure contact with a sequence of small areas across the entire breast, palpating each area to measure tissue density. Concurrent with the palpation scan, a scan of breast color and temperature is conducted. A locator head positions the detector for the scan in a manner that assures repeatability during each of a series of periodic examinations. This system detects very small lumps and allows easy, accurate monitoring of suspicious areas over an extended time period. Several different embodiments of the detection head and location head are described.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2001Date of Patent: January 14, 2003Assignee: UltraTouch CorporationInventor: Farid Souluer

Patent number: 5807271Abstract: A monitoring system for monitoring detectable intermittent signals generated by a living being. In one embodiment, a pregnancy monitoring system monitors fetal heat beat and/or uterine contractions. A belt is configured to fit around the abdomen of a pregnant woman, with belt ends fastened together at her back. A number of sensors are mounted on the belt to detect fetal heartbeat and transmit corresponding electrical systems, preferably by wireless means, to a distant monitoring station. At least one uterine contraction sensor may also be mounted on the belt for detecting uterine contractions and transmitting a corresponding electrical signal to the monitoring station. In a second embodiment, an apron or jacket for placement in tight, uniform contact over the chest contains a plurality of sensors for detecting cardiac signals. These electrocardiographic signals are transmitted by a wireless transmitter to a distant, central monitoring system to produce a valid data signal at the remote station.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1997Date of Patent: September 15, 1998Inventors: Sean Tayebi, Farid Souluer, Surinder Tayebi, Jalil Tayebi, Massih K.
