  • Patent number: 8215178
Abstract: A sensor device comprises a sensing component adapted to be connected to a monitoring system to send signals associated with deformation of a structural member. An adhesive is adapted to bond the sensing component to a surface of a structural member. A tape has at least one adhesive surface adapted to be adhered to the surface of a structural member to be monitored, with the sensing component being positioned between the tape and the surface of the structural member. The sensor device is used in combination with a monitoring system.

  • Publication number: 20120000715
Abstract: A portable weighing apparatus comprises a portable platform body. The platform body has a top surface adapted to support a wheel of a vehicle/trailer when the platform body lies on the ground. A weight sensor related to the top surface of the platform body produces a weight signal as a function of a weight of the wheel and vehicle/trailer on the platform body. A weighing processor outputs a weight value from the weight signal. A load sensor has a trigger portion generally centrally located in a direction on the top surface of the platform body. The load sensor actuates a measurement from the weight sensor when triggered. A system for weighing a vehicle/trailer and a method for measuring the weight of a wheel and vehicle/trailer are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20110006902
Abstract: A body movement sensing apparatus includes a thin, flexible resilient pad with a layer of adhesive on one surface thereof for attaching the pad to a human body. At least one flexible motion sensor such as a Wheatstone bridge in the pad flexes with the pad when there is movement of an area of the body beneath the pad. The sensor is connected to an indicator for providing an audible or visible indication of body movement exceeding a predetermined limit. The sensor can also be a spring metal or other strip which makes a noise when flexed.

  • Publication number: 20100187022
Abstract: An industrial pallet/scale including a platform for supporting a load, having at least three load sensors positioned between and in mechanical communication with the platform and ground. The platform is free of a sheer plate assembly in order to minimize weight of the platform. Each load sensor provides weight data responsive to a downward force relayed from the platform. A display unit in electrical communication with the at least three load cells displays text in response to the weight data of each load cell. The industrial pallet/scale optionally includes load sensors having protection means for protecting the load cells. The protection means functions as a support for the platform, which bears the load of the platform in a protective position. The protection means prevents a pressure member of the load cell from contacting the ground. In a weighing position, the pressure member is coupled directly to the ground, such that the load cell of the load sensor bears the load of the platform.

  • Publication number: 20100181119
Abstract: A modular scale in the form of a kit or a system includes a plurality of load sensors, a display unit, and a plurality of electrical communication links for electrically connecting the load sensors to the display unit. The load sensors include connectors, such as jacks, for releasably receiving a complementary plug of a cable. The other end of the cable includes another plug for releasable insertion into a complementary jack of the display unit. One of the load sensors can be a master load sensor for receiving weight data of the other load sensors, referred to as slave load sensors. The master load sensor sums the weight data provided by itself and the slave load sensors, for providing combined weight result data. The scale also includes a rigid case for carrying the various modules of the scale, the case being adapted for use as a weighing platform when opened and supported by the load sensors over a surface.

  • Publication number: 20050028604
Abstract: A system for monitoring a load for displacement on a vehicle, comprising a support structure adapted to be fixed to the vehicle. A sensor is supported by the support structure. The sensor is positioned with respect to the load so as to detect a displacement of the load with respect to the vehicle. An interface receives and processes signals from the sensor and to a user of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6845564
Abstract: An apparatus for monitoring level variations in a given orientation of a structure, comprises a support portion secured to a structure to be monitored as a function of the given orientation in an adjustable position with respect to the horizon. A balancing arm hangs from the support portion in a resting position with respect to the horizon with one rotational degree of freedom being provided between the support portion and the balancing arm, such that a level variation in the given orientation of the structure causes the balancing arm to tend toward the resting position due to gravitational force A retaining member interrelates the balancing arm to the support portion, the retaining member retaining the balancing arm in the resting position. Sensors are positioned on the retaining member and are wired to a control system to measure strain of the retaining member resulting from the balancing arm tending toward the resting position, to quantify the level variation in the given orientation.
