  • Publication number: 20130244913
Abstract: An environmentally acceptable water-in-oil microemulsion composition includes at least one emulsifying surfactant, at least one biodegradable hydrocarbon solvent, at least one co-solvent, at least one hydrocarbon co-surfactant, and water. The microemulsion composition may be used in a method for rendering fluids from oil external to water external. The microemulsion composition may be combined with water or a water based fluid to produce a spacer fluid utilized in removing oil and oil-residues from a surface, particularly that of wellbores in the drilling of oil and gas wells.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 7790774
Abstract: A continuous process forms liquid or semi-solid suspensions of water-hydratable guar particles in a non-aqueous solvent directly from hydrated guar splits. In particular, guar splits are hydrated, compressed to form wet guar flakes, and then dried. The dried guar flakes are then combined with a non-aqueous carrier fluid. Finally, the guar and carrier fluid mixture is homogenized, and, if desired, the homogenized guar and carrier fluid mixture may be shear milled to further size-reduce the average particle size of the guar particle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 11, 2008
Date of Patent: September 7, 2010
    Assignee: Benchmark Energy Products, LLC

  • Publication number: 20010007351
Abstract: Granules composed of a particulate breaker chemical [e.g. Ca(Oh)2] dispersed in a wax matrix are used in fracturing operations to break hydrocarbon liquids gelled with salts of alkyl phosphate esters. The wax granules are solid at surface temperature and melt or disperse in the hydrocarbon liquid at formation temperature releasing the breaker chemical to react with gelling agent.
    Type: Application
    Filed: January 5, 2001
    Publication date: July 12, 2001

  • Patent number: 5370184
Abstract: Granules containing a gel breaker are used in a well treatment involving the use of a gelled fluid. The granules exhibit delayed release of the breaker to permit placement of the gelled fluid into the subterranean formation. The method of the present invention is used in gravel packing operation to degrade polymeric gelling agents used in the gravel packing liquid.
