  • Patent number: 10045271
Abstract: A method includes a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) receiving a network information message via a cellular network while the WTRU is in either a first mode or a second mode. The message includes a neighbor cell list that identifies a plurality of wireless access networks available for handoff, including a first network based on a first wireless access technology and a second network based on a second wireless access technology different than the first wireless access technology. When in the first mode, the WTRU performs physical measurements only on signals transmitted from the wireless access networks identified in the neighbor cell list, selects one of the networks for handover; and initiates a handover procedure with the selected network. When in the second mode, the WTRU selects one of the wireless access networks identified in the neighbor cell list using the received information related to the wireless access network.

  • Publication number: 20180205500
Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and apparatus for implementing space frequency block coding (SFBC) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication system. The present invention is applicable to both a closed loop mode and an open loop mode. In the closed loop mode, power loading and eigen-beamforming are performed based on channel state information (CSI). A channel coded data stream is multiplexed into two or more data streams. Power loading is performed based on the CSI on each of the multiplexed data streams. SFBC encoding is performed on the data streams for each of the paired subcarriers. Then, eigen-beamforming is performed based on the CSI to distribute eigenbeams to multiple transmit antennas. The power loading may be performed on two or more SFBC encoding blocks or on each eigenmodes. Additionally, the power loading may be performed across subcarriers or subcarrier groups for weak eigenmodes.

  • Publication number: 20180124322
Abstract: The effect of camera shake in digital video is corrected using signal processing techniques. The digital video is a sequence of digital images. When the sequence of digital images are being captured, movement of the imaging device causes the images to shift on the image sensor of the imaging device and affects the quality of the eventual video. Movement of the imaging device is detected while the video is being captured, and a motion information representing the motion is recorded. A processor determines a correcting filter based on the motion information and user input. The processor modifies the sequence of images captured according to the correcting filter and obtains a final corrected video. Corrected video is displayed in a viewfinder.

  • Patent number: 9949225
Abstract: Methods and systems for receiving a primary and secondary synchronization signal from a cell are provided. The secondary synchronization signal may be derived from at least one of a set of sequences and received based on the timing of the received primary synchronization signal. Determining a time slot within a frame of the received secondary synchronization signal and a group of the cell is provided, wherein the time slot and the group are determined by at least one sequence of the secondary synchronization signal and at least one carrier out of a plurality of carriers used for one sequence out of the at least one sequence of the secondary synchronization signal. Determining a frame timing and a sequence used by the cell, based on the received primary synchronization signal and the secondary synchronization signal is further provided.

  • Patent number: 9930696
Abstract: In orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) selects a random access channel (RACH) and a phase for a constant amplitude zero auto correlation (CAZAC) sequence for RACH transmission. The WTRU then transmits a RACH transmission to a Node B via the selected RACH. Once the RACH transmission is detected, the Node B sends an acknowledgement (ACK) to the WTRU over an ACK channel. The Node B may transmit the ACK on a shared channel. The WTRU may ramp up transmit power while the RACH transmission is transmitted, or steps up transmit power of a subsequent RACH transmission. The RACH transmission and data transmission may be either time multiplexed or frequency multiplexed. A plurality of RACHs may be defined and one of the defined RACHs may be selected randomly or based on predetermined criteria.

  • Publication number: 20180070012
Abstract: A digital graduated filter is implemented in an imaging device by combining multiple images of the subject wherein the combining may include combining different numbers of images for highlights and for shadows of the subject. The imaging device may present a user with a set of pre-defined graduated filter configurations to choose from. A user may also specify the direction of graduation and strength of graduation in a viewfinder. In an alternative implementation, combining may include scaling of pixels being added instead of varying the number of images being combined. In an alternative implementation, the combining of multiple images may include combining a different number of images for highlights of the subject than for shadows of subject.

  • Publication number: 20180048822
Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in a digital imaging device for correcting image blur in digital images by combining plurality of images. The plurality of images that are combined include a main subject that can be selected by user input or automatically by the digital imaging device. Blur correction can be performed to make the main subject blur-free while the rest of the image is blurred. All of the image may be made blur-free or the main subject can be made blur-free at the expense of the rest of the image. Result is a blur corrected image that is recorded in a memory.

  • Publication number: 20170099088
Abstract: A method and system for utilizing smart antennas in transmission of messages between nodes are disclosed. A wireless communication system includes a plurality of nodes, and each node is capable of being connected to each other node. At least a portion of the nodes are provided with a smart antenna configured to generate a plurality of directional beams. Each node maintains a list of other nodes and beam configuration information to be used in transmission of messages to other nodes. When a source node is required to transmit to a target node, the source node retrieves the beam configuration information and transmits with a directional beam directed to the target node.
