Abstract: A process for producing containers includes the steps of providing a container having a shaping region, the shaping region comprising a thermoplastic material; applying an ink to the shaping region; discretely heating the shaping region to a shaping temperature; and discretely shaping the shaping region to take a desired three dimensional shape. A system for producing containers having three dimensional decorations, and containers having three dimensional decorations, are also disclosed.

The present invention provides a method of and apparatus for treating a polyolefin surface to become receptive to inks and adhesives, using the steps of introducing the shaped object onto a conveyor belt; conveying the shaped object towards an output end of the conveyor belt; aligning and guiding the shaped object across a treatment device to treat the entire 360.degree. surface of the shaped object. The treatment device includes, for example, an electrode spark generator.

Abstract: An apparatus for the silk screen printing of labels, artwork, descriptive material, etc. on cylindrical containers. The silk screen is prepared and set up in a carriage for reciprocative movement above a container cradle assembly positioned for pivotally moving a container into and out of peripheral engagement with the underside of the silk screen. An adjustable measuring device is provided to receive a cylindrical container and to indicate the diameter thereof on a calibrated scale in indexing reference numeral graduations. The measuring device is interconnected with an air cylinder utilized to drive the container cradle assembly so as to control the pivotal stroke thereof to properly position all subsequent like-diameter containers inserted in the cradle for the silk screen printing operation and for removal from the cradle.
