Patent number: 11535084Abstract: A motor-vehicle includes one or more electrically-operated valves, arranged on the structure of the motor-vehicle in a lower position with respect to the windows, for providing a communication between a passenger compartment and the external environment, and one or more electronic control units programmed to activate a ventilation mode of the passenger compartment when the motor-vehicle is parked with the engine off, even with the driver outside the vehicle. The ventilation mode includes controlling at least partial opening of one or more windows and the opening of one or more of the valves to generate a flow of natural air from the bottom upwards through the passenger compartment of the motor-vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2019Date of Patent: December 27, 2022Assignee: C.R.F. Patent number: 11203247Abstract: A thermal regulation system for an electric drive vehicle has two loop circuits provided with respective pumps, for circulating heat transfer fluid, and with respective heat exchangers for cooling the heat transfer fluid. A battery pack and an electric/electronic drive unit are arranged in parallel with each other in the first and second loop circuit respectively, so that they are cooled by the heat transfer fluid at flow rates which are different from each other, when the two circuits form a single cooling circuit. At least one Peltier cell is arranged along the first loop circuit to heat the heat transfer fluid circulating towards the battery pack.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2020Date of Patent: December 21, 2021Assignee: FCA ITALY S.P.A.Inventors: Attilio Crivellari, Walter Ferraris, Fausto Di Sciullo, Federica Bettoja, Francesco Lovuolo

Patent number: 11091007Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes a thermal control system having a first high temperature cooling circuit, a second low temperature cooling circuit and a third cooling circuit for cooling/heating a battery pack. A system of valves is configured to connect the third circuit with the second circuit so as to create a loop consisting of a main portion of the third circuit and a main portion of the second circuit including the cooling portion of one or more electric motor assemblies of the hybrid vehicle, one or more additional components of the motor-vehicle, such as a turbocharger assembly and an intercooler assembly. In this operating condition, circulation of the liquid in the loop thus-formed can be activated by the pump of the third circuit and causes heating of the battery pack by the heat generated by the electric motor assemblies and, preferably, by the aforesaid additional components of the motor-vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2019Date of Patent: August 17, 2021Assignee: C.R.F. Patent number: 10711740Abstract: A system for feeding air to an engine of a vehicle includes a heat exchanger arranged along a duct for feeding air, downstream of a supercharging compressor, to cool a flow of air fed by the air compressor, by a fluid that circulates in an engine cooling circuit. The system also includes an evaporator, interposed in the duct downstream of the heat exchanger, to further cool the air flow by a coolant that circulates in an air conditioning circuit of the vehicle. The air conditioning circuit includes a coolant compressor and a controller for controlling activation of the coolant compressor, depending on a request for air conditioning of a passenger compartment of the vehicle, and a request for cooling the air fed to the engine. The electronic controller is configured to enable the coolant compressor to be activated only when the engine load is below a certain threshold.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2018Date of Patent: July 14, 2020Assignee: C.R.F. Patent number: 10428783Abstract: A cooling system for an internal combustion engine of a motor-vehicle presenting a circuit for a coolant of the engine. The circuit includes a thermally insulated tank for the coolant of the engine, connected to an outer portion of the cooling circuit. The tank is arranged in the circuit to retain a defined quantity of coolant at a temperature above the ambient temperature when the engine is inactive, and for causing this quantity of coolant to flow, at a temperature above the ambient temperature, into the cooling circuit of the engine, after a subsequent start of the engine, during an engine warm up stage. The circuit also includes an expansion vessel connected to the outer circuit portion of the coolant of the engine. The expansion vessel has a thermally insulated body and constitutes the thermally insulated tank for the engine coolant.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 2018Date of Patent: October 1, 2019Assignee: C.R.F. Patent number: 10030551Abstract: In a vehicle cooling system, a quantity of warm coolant stored within a thermally insulated tank is used to heat engine lubricating oil in an engine warm-up phase following a cold start. A conduit feeding coolant leaving the engine is connected to an inlet of the tank via a reduced cross-section or a labyrinth pathway. The conduit is connected to an inlet of an electronically controlled distribution valve having three outlets connected to the oil cooler, a passenger compartment heater, and a radiator. In an initial part of the warm-up phase, the valve is closed, and the entire flow of coolant leaving the engine flows into the tank, moving the quantity of warm coolant previously stored in the tank to the oil cooler, where it contributes to more rapid heating of the lubricating oil. When the engine is switched-off, the tank is again filled with warm coolant from the engine.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2017Date of Patent: July 24, 2018Assignee: C.R.F.
