  • Patent number: 8032126
Abstract: A wireless communications network comprises a server in a central location storing matching profiles for a plurality of users of the network. The matching profile for each user is stored in the server through the user's mobile unit or a secure page on the Internet. Each matching profile is corresponded with a respective mobile unit using the same identification information (ID) of the respective mobile unit utilized for carrying out phone calls. The server has a customizable variable matching algorithm and probes the matching profiles corresponding to the respective mobile units in a cell or group of cells for a match every time a new mobile unit subscribes into the cell or group of cells. When there is a match of matching profiles, the two persons are put in contact or advised of each other through a phone call or other communications method.

  • Patent number: 6934543
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for filtering incoming calls. A request for a call from a calling unit to a mobile subscriber unit is received and a check is performed to determine whether local time information indicates that the mobile subscriber unit is within a time zone in an inconvenient time period. An indication is sent to the calling unit to inform the calling unit that the mobile subscriber unit is in the time zone within the inconvenient time period when the checking of the local time information determines that the local time information is within the inconvenient period.

  • Patent number: 6748223
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, by which to provide a digital image, created at the mobile station by a digital camera forming a portion thereof, to an assistance center, such as an emergency dispatch center. The digital image is created automatically upon initiation at the mobile station of a request for assistance from the assistance center. Initiation of a 911 emergency call, for example, causes a digital image to be created by the digital camera, and signals representative of the created digital image are automatically sent to the assistance center. Once received at the assistance center, viewing of the digital images provides personnel at the assistance center with additional information by which best to respond to the request for assistance. And, the digital image is storable thereat for evidentiary purposes.

  • Patent number: 6745054
Abstract: A user interface assembly, and an associated method, for a mobile station. An earpiece assembly, worn by a user of a mobile station at which the user interface assembly is implemented, receives local radio signals, such as Bluetooth™-formatted signals, when placement of a call is detected at the mobile station. An annunciator, also positioned at the earpiece, generates an alert to alert the user of placement of the call to the mobile station. The alert forms a private alert instead of a general, public alert. The user of the mobile station is able to accept, or reject, acceptance of the call when privately alerted of delivery of the call to the mobile station.
